Chainsaw Man Movie!

Chainsaw Man is a hit manga series which has also been adapted into an anime TV series. The story is exactly as the title advertises it is about a man with a chainsaw for a head. The official synopsis reads, “Betrayed and killed, a teenager named Denji gets revived as Chainsaw Man, a soul with a devil’s heart.” The series was major hit not just with loyal anime fans but also to newcomers as underneath the eccentricities of the narrative there was a human story full of pain and emotion. You know an anime is amazing when it has a Rotten Tomatoes of 97% and an IMDb score of 8.4/10. With the success that the anime has enjoyed a rumor of a new movie was afloat. Here’s everything we know about it.

Chainsaw Man Movie Is In Progress!

Anyone reading this article will know about we’re not getting a Chainsaw Man season 2 anytime soon. However, which is why we’re getting a new Chainsaw Man movie that will be titled Reze Arc and will adapt the ‘Bomb Girl’ portion of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed manga. The movie was announced back in December 2023 and what’s surprising is that we already have a teaser.

RELEASE DATE: Although, given the track record of MAPPA I don’t think we so we can expect the film to land a release date in 2024. The fact an early teaser is already out – and the first season came out two years ago – would indicate that things are moving along nicely. But I would still bet on a 2025 release date. The only unresolved question remains will the audience in the west (USA, UK, etc.) will get to watch the film closer to the Japanese release date?

ADAPTED STORY: If the past is any indication then no, the western audience will have to wait at least 4 to 6 months after the Japanese release date. The first season of the anime adapted 38 chapters of the manga and the upcoming feature film is rumored to adapt the Bomb Girl saga that will cover chapter 40 to 52. Meaning it will set up the International Assassins arc (chapters 53-70) for future seasons.

So in conclusion, it appears that the second season of the Chainsaw Man has been converted into a feature film. It will pick up from where the first season left and will be canon to the events of the anime. In short, you will have to watch the film if you plan to follow the anime because the future season will definitely follow up with the movie.

CAST: Now about the cast, we expect Denji (Kikunosuke Toya), Makima (Tomori Kusunoki), Power (Fairouz Ai), and Aki (Shogo Sakata) all to return in the Chainsaw Man movie. One major newcomer will be Reze (Reina Ueda), while we also anticipate much of the English dub cast to reprise their roles.
