Few cinematic journeys have defined a generation the way Harry Potter did. From 2001 to 2011, the eight-film saga not only brought J.K. Rowling’s world to life—it did so with such magic, emotion, and timeless charm that many still consider it one of the best page-to-screen adaptations ever made. So when HBO announced its decade-long Harry Potter remake series, reactions instantly split. Yes, there’s excitement… but also a shared feeling that this wasn’t the story fans were wishing for in 2025.
Why? Because the movies still feel fresh. The performances are iconic. And the world of Harry Potter is brimming with unexplored stories far more deserving of the spotlight right now. So here are 7 Harry Potter spin-offs fans actually want—far more than a remake.
1. Fantastic Beasts: The Final Chapters

Let’s be honest—Fantastic Beasts 2 and 3 stumbled. Hard. But the bigger sin was leaving the story unfinished. This was originally announced as a five-film franchise, with two full chapters still missing. The Grindelwald–Dumbledore rivalry never reached its legendary climax, and the most anticipated duel in wizarding history remains unseen.
Fans want closure. The wizarding world deserves closure. And Jude Law’s Dumbledore with Mads Mikklesen’s Grindelwald practically begs for one last epic showdown.
2. The Marauders: The Spin-Off Harry Potter Fans Have Demanded for Years

If Potter fans could collectively vote for one dream project, The Marauders would win almost instantly. A series centered on the exploits of the four legendary friends Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter or in the words of Potterheads – Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, Prongs.
…plus the early days of Snape, Lily, the Black family, the Order of the Phoenix, and the first Wizarding War? This era is dramatic, chaotic, heartbreaking, and FULL of untapped lore. It’s the perfect blend of teen angst, dark war buildup, friendship, betrayal, love, and legacy. It’s everything fans want—and yet it remains untouched.
3. The Dark Lord: Origins

Tom Marvolo Riddle’s rise is so compelling that fans themselves made entire high-quality films about him. Imagine what a studio could do with the full story:
- His time at Wool’s Orphanage
- His manipulative ascent at Hogwarts
- His experiments with Horcruxes
- The early formation of Death Eaters
- The transition from charismatic prodigy to the most feared dark wizard in history
Most of this was never fully explored in the films. A tragic, psychological villain-origin series would be an instant phenomenon.
4. The Founders: The Birth of Hogwarts

Even casual fans want this. A series set in the 10th century following Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff. Imagine the political tension, ancient magic, the construction of Hogwarts, the invention of the Houses, and the ideological rift that tore Gryffindor and Slytherin apart.
This story would give the wizarding world a historical epic filled with myths, medieval magic, alliances, and betrayals. It would be unlike any Potter project ever made.
5. The Golden Snitch: A Quidditch Story

The wizarding world’s biggest sport has SO much untapped potential. Inspired by Quidditch Through the Ages, this spin-off could follow a young Seeker’s journey from obscure local matches, to professional league trials, to becoming the world’s greatest player.
Think Rocky, Moneyball, Rush, or Haikyuu!!—but with flying broomsticks, stadium rivalries, magical injuries, team politics, and a hungry, determined Seeker chasing glory. This could be the sports drama event of the Wizarding World.
6. The Rebellion of the Goblins

The wizard–goblin conflict is one of the richest—and darkest—pieces of world-building in the lore. The Goblin Rebellions of 1612, 1752, late 1700’s and 1890 (led by Ranrok) could give us a political thriller, a cultural clash, the complexity of goblin autonomy, the grey morality of both sides, and a deeper exploration of wand-ownership laws, banking power, and magical warfare.
This era is ripe for a grounded, mature, morally intense series. Think Andor, but with goblins, spells, and wizarding rebellion.
7. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Film Adaptation)

The book? Divisive. The play? Still running strong and critically praised. And despite controversial plot choices, and lore breaking The Cursed Child offers time-travel chaos, alternate timelines, an emotional father-son story, Draco and Harry actually bonding, and a “What If” tone that could be thrilling on-screen.
With some narrative tweaks and the return of the original cast—even if just for one single film—it could be the perfect nostalgic revival.
Final Thoughts
The Wizarding World is vast. Magical. Full of untold stories waiting to be brought to life. And while the HBO remake may still find its audience, it just doesn’t feel like the next chapter fans were craving.
Potterheads weren’t asking to rewatch the past—they were asking to explore the future (and the forgotten past). These seven spin-offs are the ones fans actually want. And if even one of them ever gets greenlit… the fandom will erupt louder than a Quidditch World Cup crowd.
