Cinema in India isn’t just entertainment — it’s tradition, emotion, and a cultural cornerstone. It pulses through our very veins, sparking passion, joy, and community like little else can. And when it comes to cinematic experiences, few formats inspire awe quite like IMAX. Before we begin, right of the bat, currently, there’re no 70MM IMAX theatres in Delhi NCR (I know it’s disappointing). As per news, there are a couple of them being considered in the near future, but the details remain scarce as of now.
Up until 2018, Delhi NCR had just three IMAX options: PVR Logix Noida, PVR Ambience Gurgaon, and PVR Select City Walk Delhi. Among these, Logix stood out with the biggest screen and felt the closest to the “true IMAX” experience. But now, in 2025, the region boasts eight IMAX theatres. So, let’s break down all eight IMAX theatres in Delhi NCR based on screen size, projection quality, sound, and overall experience.
1. PVR IMAX with Laser, Priya, Vasant Vihar
- Screen Size: 3rd Biggest in NCR (Largest ‘Laser IMAX’ in North India)
- Projection: IMAX with Laser
- Sound: 12-channel
- Seats: Very comfortable
The first standalone IMAX auditorium in NCR, PVR Priya is the most technically advanced, with laser projection and 12ch audio. The screen is big, bright, and the ticket prices are among the lowest. The theatre is situated in the vibrant Priya High Street area, making it a top pick for cinephiles.
2. PVR Select City Walk, Delhi
- Projection: IMAX with Laser (CoLa – one of only two in India)
- Sound: 12-channel
- Seats: Best in NCR
With possibly the best picture quality and sound, Select City Walk’s IMAX hall offers a premium experience. The only downside? The screen is smaller compared to Priya, and ticket prices can be steep. But for those who want perfect projection and plush comfort, this is the go-to spot.
3. PVR Superplex Logix, Noida
- Screen Size: Biggest in NCR (40 x 70 feet)
- Projection: IMAX Xenon
- Sound: Upgraded to 6-channel
- Seats: Average comfort (Poor for IMAX)
Despite not being a laser screen, this remains the holy grail for those who believe IMAX is all about Image Maximum (I’m one of them). The massive screen still dwarfs every other in NCR, and sitting middle row offers pure immersion. However, the projection isn’t as bright, and the seats could use an upgrade. Still, with 15 screens including 4DX, Atmos, and Gold Class, Logix remains a flagship multiplex worth visiting.
4. PVR Vegas Dwarka, Delhi
- Screen Size: 2nd Biggest Screen in NCR
- Projection: IMAX Xenon
- Sound: Standard 6-channel
- Seats: Decently Comfortable
Although the second biggest IMAX screen in the NCR, and basically a slightly smaller sibling of Logix in terms of screen size and projection, this theatre doesn’t quite capture the IMAX magic but is decent enough if you’re nearby. Not a destination pick.
5. PVR Superplex, Mall of India, Noida
- Screen Size: Smallest in NCR
- Projection: IMAX with Laser
- Sound: 12-channel
- Seats: Very comfortable
This Superplex has all the latest IMAX specs but unfortunately a much smaller screen (probably the smallest in NCR). It’s technically great and has incredible sound quality but doesn’t offer the grandeur you expect from IMAX. A good choice if you’re nearby, but not a destination IMAX hall. Check out our full review of the theatre here.
6. INOX Vishal Mall, Rajouri Garden
- Projection: 4K Laser XT
- Sound: 6-channel
- Seats: Decently Comfortable
Almost identical to INOX Paras, but with a slightly better seat layout and fantastic field-of-view. The screen covers the entire wall, giving a genuine IMAX feeling despite the smaller size. A solid west Delhi option.
7. INOX: IMAX with Laser, Paras, Nehru Place
- Projection: 4K Laser XT
- Sound: 6-channel
- Seats: Decently Comfortable
One of the newer entries, this IMAX is a rebuild of an iconic Nehru Place theatre. The screen is small, but proportionate to the hall size, and projection quality is excellent. While the sound system is just 6ch, it works well for the space. A good urban choice for casual IMAX fans.
8. PVR Ambience, Gurgaon
- Projection: IMAX Xenon (2K)
- Sound: 6-channel
- Seats: Average Comfort (Better than Logix)
Once iconic, now in dire need of upgrades. The screen size is decent but nowhere near Logix, and the tech is outdated. PVR Ambience Gurgaon is surely not recommended unless you’re left with no other options.
Our Recommendation
- Best All-Round IMAX (Laser + Comfort + Value): PVR Priya, Vasant Vihar
- Best Picture & Sound Quality: PVR Select City Walk
- Biggest Screen for Immersion: PVR Logix, Noida (No arguments)
- Avoid If Possible: PVR Ambience, Gurgaon
If you crave image clarity, rich sound, and plush comfort — Priya and Select City Walk are your top choices, especially for IMAX 3D. But if your heart beats for a towering screen and you can compromise a bit on tech, the legacy king Logix still reigns supreme. And while there’s still no 70mm IMAX in Delhi NCR, here’s hoping the future brings something even more mind-blowing to the capital’s movie buffs. Until then, you’ve got these eight to pick from — choose wisely, and enjoy the show.
