Legends Immersive Van Gogh and Da Vinci Genius Review & Analysis – Are They Worth It?

India’s art scene just got a major upgrade with Legends Immersive Cinema — the country’s first-ever space dedicated entirely to immersive storytelling. After successful runs across Europe and the U.S., the concept has finally landed in Indian metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

I had the chance to attend the Delhi showcase this August and opted for the Van Gogh + Da Vinci BOGO pass, priced at ₹1500 for one adult ticket. Normally, each show costs ₹1500 individually on weekends, but this bundled offer is almost always available, making it a smart pick. Prices do vary by city, though Delhi NCR has the highest bracket, so you won’t be paying more elsewhere.

Setup & Technical Experience

Both exhibitions follow a similar format:

Introductory Film – Each show begins with a 15-minute presentation in a small theater-like room. Think projector + white screen setup, providing a compact introduction to the artist’s life and work.

Immersive Zone – Afterwards, you step into a massive black-walled space with floor-to-ceiling projections on every surface except the ceiling. The air conditioning is strong, the space smells clean, and the vibe immediately feels premium.

Immersion Quality – The projections are crisp and fluid, spanning every wall and the floor for maximum immersion. This was easily the most immersive art-tech experience I’ve personally had.

Souvenir Shop – After the shows, visitors exit through a neatly curated merchandise shop. Thankfully, the prices aren’t inflated, making it a nice way to take home keepsakes.

Now, let’s dive into the shows individually.

Van Gogh: An Immersive Story – Review

The experience kicks off with a decent 15-minute introduction to Van Gogh’s troubled yet fascinating life. For those unfamiliar with him, it’s a solid primer before the main event.

But the real magic happens inside the immersive chamber. Simply put: it’s flawless. The projection quality is sharp, vibrant, and glitch-free, even toward the end of its Delhi run. The dark walls amplify Van Gogh’s rich palette, and the ambient, impressionist soundtrack elevates the visuals to almost meditative levels.

The animations breathe life into his masterpieces, from waves lapping across the walls in The Sea at Saintes-Maries to glowing figures wandering in Café Terrace at Night. Of course, the standout sequences for me were “Starry Night” and the Wheatfield series, where brushstrokes swirl and skies shimmer around you.

If you only watched this show for ₹1500, it would still be worth it. For me, this is a 5/5 experience — breathtaking, emotional, and unforgettable.

Da Vinci Genius – Review

Here’s where things dip. If possible, watch Da Vinci Genius before Van Gogh, because ending with Van Gogh will give you the high note you deserve.

The problem? The Da Vinci experience is less about his iconic paintings and more about his scientific, architectural, and engineering feats. While this is fascinating historically, it doesn’t translate into the same emotional resonance as Van Gogh’s art.

His paintings (like Mona Lisa and The Last Supper) barely occupy 15 minutes of the show, and unsurprisingly, they are the highlights. Several segments lean on overproduced visuals with club-like music and random dance sequences that feel out of place for Da Vinci’s world.

On the plus side, it’s the more interactive show — with touch-sensitive walls and QR code activations that trigger additional effects. Kids may find this fun. Thankfully, the show ends with an immersive, interactive recreation of The Last Supper, which redeems the overall experience somewhat.

As a standalone, it wouldn’t justify the ₹1500 price tag. But as part of the BOGO deal with Van Gogh, it’s a nice add-on. For me, this one scores 3.5 out of 5.

Final Verdict

Overall, Legends Immersive Cinema is absolutely worth experiencing, especially for families and art lovers. Van Gogh is an unmissable triumph, while Da Vinci Genius is more of a mixed bag — still fun, but best treated as a bonus rather than the main event.

A few recommendations:

  1. Visit on weekdays for cheaper tickets and smaller crowds, overcrowding can and will RUIN the immersion.
  2. Definitely take your kids; this is an inspiring, family-friendly way to introduce them to art and history.
  3. Don’t skip the souvenir shop which is surprisingly affordable for what it offers.

Even though the Delhi run has ended, the shows are touring other Indian cities, and if you get the chance, you should absolutely go. Personally, I can’t wait for Legends Immersive to expand into more artists or even new subjects – imagine walking through an immersive Hogwarts Castle, Middle-earth, or Ancient Greece. The potential is limitless, and India needs more of this cultural innovation.

Van Gogh: 5/5 | Da Vinci Genius: 3.5/5 | Overall: Highly Recommended
