At this point, there is no doubt that MCU is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is it the highest grossing film franchise, but it is also a massive world of its own. The Infinity saga created a massive hype train which was boarded by fans and critics alike, and now all eyes are on its future. The question all of us are asking right now is, can MCU top the Infinity Saga? Well, it seems like it is on the right track considering what awaits us in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

A Magical Phase

Phase 4 is shaping up to be a full blown magical and supernatural experience. Now obviously whenever we talk about magic in Marvel, the Sorcerer Supreme is bound to be involved. We all know Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff is all set to appear in Doctor Strange 2. It is also believe that events of Loki Season 1 might tie into the movie. The season ended with the opening of multiverse and Doctor Strange 2 obviously is all about multiverse. So, Scarlet Witch and The God of Mischief are bound to make Doctor Strange 2 even more magical.

Connecting MCU

Shang Chialso had numerous Doctor Strange connections and was full of magic as well. Also, Spiderman: No Way Home trailer showcases obvious involvement of Doctor Strange as Peter’s new mentor. That aside, we all know that No Way Homewill also deal with the multiverse as the appearance of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus made that abundantly clear. So, Doctor Strange references and magic can be seen everywhere in MCU Phase 4.

The most exciting thing about it is that Sam Raimi also directed the Tobey Maguire Spiderman Trilogy. Multiverse and the appearance of SpideyMaguire trilogy villains, indicate that there might be some hidden surprises. It is entirely possible for SpideyMaguire to cameo in the film!

Filling The Iron Man Void

Most of you will agree that MCU is using Doctor Strange to fill the Iron Man void post Infinite Saga. Doctor Strange’s references all over Phase 4 take us back to the time when it all began. Iron Man tied the MCU together and was the protagonist of the Infinity Saga. Similarly, Doctor Strange is all set to be the new protagonist of MCU along with Scarlet Witch.

The Strongest Avenger

Comic book fans know how Strange is without doubt one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Comics. His magical abilities have limitless potential but unfortunately, this hasn’t been explored in MCU much. He was widely underused in the Avengers: Endgame.

Doctor Strange was set to be the most powerful sorcerer in the first film and his full potential is yet to be seen on screen. While characters like Hulk, Thor, and Captain Marvel rely on raw strength and endurance, Doctor Strange can deal with opponents without even getting close. Phase 4 is the era of sorcerers so, the might of Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff will soon be unparalleled.

All of this along with new characters like Miss America and Nightmare (possibly) make Doctor Strange 2 an unmissable adventure. It would be interesting to see how MCU incorporates all the above pointers, while also moving Strange’s story forward. It is a very ambitious project and might be the biggest one yet after Avengers: Endgame.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is all set to hit the screens on May 6, 2022.
