Bullet Trains Reviews: A Great Action Film
The critics belonging to this section of opinions have lauded the for what it supposed to be – an Action Film. Calling it a fun adventure of mishaps. Let’s hear their own words. Lauren Coates of Awards Watch said “Bullet Train still manages to blend together and end product more than worth the price of admission: a fast-paced, startlingly funny action-mystery with some impressive gore and an unlikely attitude towards fate, morality, and luck”
Kate Sanchez from But Why Tho? A Geek Community called the film “Erratic and chaotic in nearly every department, [Bullet Train is] a great watch thanks to actors that just get each other and an ending that sticks the landing.” Eric Eisenberg of CinemaBlend said “With a sensibility that could be described as early Guy Ritchie with more specific action focus, it’s a movie that is both silly and skilled and inspires its primary star in particular to do energetic and engaging work.”
Robert Kojder from Flickering Myth lauded the film by saying “Bullet Train embraces going off the rails, finding the warped pleasure in every far-fetched reveal and veering direction. The more ludicrous everything gets, the more you don’t want to get off the ride” David Poland of Hot Button clarified his take on the film “There are multiple ways to focus on Bullet Train. You can take it as a wild ride… a live-action anime. Or you can film critic it and ask for it to be more than the sum of its parts, while appreciating the parts along the way.”
David Fear from Rolling Stone appreciated Brad Pitt’s performance by saying “The amount of casual charisma and commitment Pitt is bringing to this is the one thing that actually differentiates this from being just another stylishly lit, stupid-hip snarkfest.” Julian Roman from Movie Web continued the praise for Pitt’s performace “Brad Pitt leads a wickedly funny ensemble in a high-octane actioner loaded with twists. Bullet Train’s loquacious banter tends to run long, but the narrative always bounces back with sharp reveals.”
Austin Burke of Fan Flick Nation said “Bullet Train takes advantage of its incredible ensemble and delivers on the excitement. This is a surprisingly hilarious time that combines well-made action with a somewhat overstuffed plot.” Wes Greene from Slant Magazine appreciated the director by saying “David Leitch’s film pulls off the notable feat of making human beings out of cartoonishly violent psychopaths.”
A Cheap Copy of John Wick?
Mike Massie of Gone with the Twins pointed the film’s flaws in two lines “The film so frantically wishes to come across as quirky and cool, yet that desperation is painfully obvious – and results in mostly stale or repetitive misadventures and schemes.” Mike LaSalle from San Francisco Chronicle pointed out the weak characters “So all these people are on a train. They all want to kill each other. Half the time we don’t know why, and we don’t really want to know.” Peter Bradshaw from Guardian shared his thoughts on the film “This is a tourist ride to nowhere.”
So if you’ve seen the film let me know which side do you fall on? What do you think of this early reviews?
