Must Watch Alert! LOKI is MCU at it's Absolute BEST and BIGGEST! -

Disney Plus and Marvel’s Loki, is MCU’s most important series / movie ever since Avengers: Endgame. Not only is it exceptional in putting forward it’s own narrative, but it also takes MCU Phase 4 to the next level. So, if you are a Marvel fan and were planning on being lazy by skipping this, I would request you to reconsider!

Loki is a groundbreaking series in many ways and arguably the best cannon Marvel Cinematic Universe series yet. Though WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, were good in their own way but they became quite formulic and disappointing towards the end. Loki was one hell of a ride, full of mind boggling twist and turns throughout. There wasn’t a single episode where viewers weren’t awestruck by something or the other and hence, it proved to be one of the most amazing thing which came out of Marvel’s bag of surprises.

Its TVA (Time Variance Authority) narrative might seem similar to Umbrella Academy during the first few minutes but it quickly shapes into something we never expected. The stakes involved in this series are just incredible and beyond anything Marvel has done yet. Yes, you heard that right – ANYTHING including the Infinity Saga! It’s the biggest thing Marvel is about to do and paves the way for rest of MCU’s Phase 4.

Since this is a non-spoiler review, I won’t reveal much about the plot but one thing that I can surely say is that “you didn’t see that coming”. The moment you think something will happen, something else happens and you are in for a hell lot of surprises. Through Loki, Marvel has gone, where we didn’t expect it go just yet and that’s it. That’s all I am going to say for now because anything and everything I say can be accounted as a spoiler.

So, lets talk about the performances for now and without any doubts, Tom Hiddleston carries the emotional aspect of the show like a boss. Not only does Loki undergo significant character development, he also provides a chance for Tom Hiddleston to display his full emotional range. He will make you laugh and cry along with him and leave you rooting for more. Marvel’s reverse formula, “you either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become a hero” is clearly applicable in Loki as from your favorite villain, he goes on to become your favorite hero.

Unfortunately though, a character like Loki feels a bit out of place in the high stakes game which the narrative creates. That may leave some Loki character fans disappointed, especially because the show is titled “Loki” but he himself seems to be in a passive mode. The show is more narrative driven and serves as a stepping off point for what’s to come. Therefore, most characters (including Loki) serve as pawns to the narrative, making the show much bigger than the characters.

Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie and Owen Wilson’s Mobius will quickly become your favorite supporting characters with well designed and well performed arcs. These two characters are almost as important for the narrative as Loki is and sometimes they carry it forward alone. Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Wunmi Mosaku play major roles as well and do what they can with what’s given to them. Apart from this, there are two major cameos in the show, one of a known character and the other introduces a major antagonist. Now without saying too much, I am sure they’ll get you hyped.

Let’s talk about technicalities here for a minute. The VFX, especially the CGI is mind blowing and on a massive scale. Half of the MCU movies didn’t get such graphics and production design as Loki did. It’s not much location based but the sets are creative and well designed. The sound design is equally massive and arguably the best in MCU! It just takes the visuals to a whole new level, providing an epic immersive experience. You can literally feel the stakes as you listen to the soundtrack. The cinematography is gorgeous as well and so is the make up and costume design of the characters.

So in a gist, Loki is an incredible series with a humungous scale, mind blowing VFX and a blood pumping soundtrack. Its a constant thrill ride and the only thing bad about it is that it leaves you hanging and wanting for more. Its definitely worth your time!
