Jordan Peele's Nope New Trailer Reminds Us of Signs

Have you heard of Get out or Us? If yes then you’ve been witness to one of the best horror flicks if not the best. Both of them were helmed by Jordan Peele. He is best in the business when it comes to scare the bejesus out of us, along with James Wan and Ari Aster. After 2019’s Us, Peele is back with another horror movie titled Nope. Earlier this year, we’d gotten trailers for the same which gave us a very “Jordan Peele horror” vibes. The film stars Daneil Kaluuya, Keke Palmer and Steve Yeuh in lead roles. The budget of the film is rumored around 40-45 million dollars, this makes it the costliest Peele film ever. The film has a confirmed runtime of 135 minutes.

New Trailer: New Signs?

A new and final trailer of the film dropped last week. It simultaneously confused and confirmed us. Those of you who are aware of Signs (2002), as I presume the younger generation haven’t heard of it. It was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan who like Peele is known for his horror films that hide cruel twists. The new trailer of Nope showcases OJ and his sister sighting UFOs near their farmhouse. Signs deals with a similar situation, Graham along with his children and brother Merrill are convinced that they’re being haunted by aliens as they were hearing stuff getting mysteriously knocked over and shadows chasing them at night, all this happening on a farm house.

Do you see the parallels? All these similarities tells me that Nope can be what Signs was for the early 2000s, only better, bigger and scarier. In the trailer we see OJ and his sister dealing with their father’s death, classic Peele. It is similar to Graham who was dealing with his wife’s death. This opens up the possibility that all they’re seeing and saying is hogwash as they’re dealing with this great loss. It is also revealed that they team up with a tech salesman Angel and documentarian Antlers, making them a group of four like Signs. This is what makes it different and better than Signs. As in Signs, all the characters are blood related, here they are not making it open to ulterior motives and betrayals as the trailer suggests some glimpses of.

Putting your trust in stranger in such desperate time, breaking bread with them is a dangerous exploit. Along with reminding us of Signs the trailer is full of excitement and chills. It looks beautiful with some visual being awestriking. Overall, you bet your bottom dollar that Nope will deliver us a haunting experience. Check it out yourself.

To check out if this theory is correct check out Nope in theatres on July 22nd 2022.
