After their failure with The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, Sony was desperate to make another Spider-Man spin-off film. They wanted a female led Spider-Man film. They were so desperate that they even considered an Aunt May film. Thank God we didn’t get that. Madame Web is part of the many spin-offs that Sony has planned for their Spider-Man Universe. Along with the two Venom films, Morbius and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor Joy. Now for those of you know Madame Web is Sony’s Doctor Strange in the Spider-Man Universe. Her connection with the Web of Life and Destiny makes a powerful Multiversal being. A Madame Web can possibly allow Sony to create a Live-Action Spiderverse. A multiversal crossover event bigger than even Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Madame Web Might Launch A Spider-Verse Bigger than No Way Home
After the Morbius debacle, I think Sony is finally back on track with their Spider-Man Universe. I think Sony is trying resurrect their Live action universe after the success they got in the animated films. Spider-Man into Spiderverse was an amazing film and at the time it was difficult for me to believe that Sony made it. Recently we got set photos of Adam Scott who is part of the Madame Web film. His attire in the photos suggest that he’d playing a much bigger role than we previously assumed.
I think he’ll be playing an older version of Spider-Man like we saw in Spider-Man into the Spiderverse. I think Madame Web will be the film that will launch Sony’s Live-action’s Spiderverse. There were rumors that Sony is going to use Spider-Man: No Way Home’s success to bring back Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man back. The rumor maybe true but Sony is not trying to get him back for a solo film rather they’re trying to bring him back as another variant of Spider-Man in the Live-Action Spiderverse.
Think about it, if Sony simply wanted a female led Spiderverse film they could’ve gone for Spider-Gwen. She is all the rage after her appearance in Spiderverse but they deliberately went for Madame Web who has ties to the Web of Life. In the comics Web of Life is also connected to Peter Tingle. Web of Life is when you can see the past, present and the future together. Spider-Men can sense the future because they’re connected to the Web of Life.
Although not as Madame Web is. Her film can breach the working of time and space opening doors to multiverses, where we see every other Spider-Man variant. In Venom: Let there be Carnage, the post credit scene revealed that due to Venom’s hive mind, he possess the knowledge of the multiverse. This would not be a passing comment rather a foreshadowing of the direction Sony’s heading towards. Madame Web is not another lousy addition to the Spider-Man Universe. It is the most definitive film in the entire universe that will kick start a crossover event for the ages.
