Premiering on Netflix, One Piece is now ruling following the debut of its live-action series adaptation. But, there are more manga and anime adaptations that fans might not be familiar with. Alita: Battle Angel
Alita: Battle Angel was a big budget adaptation take on Yukito Kishiro’s original Gunnm manga of the same name. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameorn and Jon Landau, this became a never seen before adaptation. The main character has digitally created bigger eyes and brighter features. This adaptation was a step ahead in the right direction. Now, One Piece is rolling that ball further. Alita: Battle Angel is now streaming on Hulu.
Blade of the Immortal
The adaptation takes the first couple of arcs from Hiroaki Samura’s popular manga. Director Takashi Miike with his direction skills executed a notable samurai story. Adding brutality, violence, and hint of supernatural elements, this is Miike’s one of the stronger adaptations. Blade of the Immortal is streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.
From Me To You: Kimi ni Todoke
As we are looking at the successful live-action adaptations, this adaptation is a must-watch. This newer adaptation is a good place to begin. This is not what you usually expect from an anime and manga adaptation. From Me To You: Kimi ni Todoke is now streaming on Netflix.
Kingdom
Director Shinsuke Sato is known for making some of the best live-action films, and Kingdom is certainly in the top. The story revolves around a boy who unites with a king to battle enormous armies. The armies include dangerous mountain clan and deadly assassins in ancient China. Kingdom is now streaming on Netflix.
Rurouni Kenshin
Rurouni Kenshin series set the bar high when it comes to manga and anime adaptations. Director Keishi Otomo commenced the series in 2012 and completed the story with five films. The film present a supreme blend of manga visuals and action. Rurouni Kenshin: Origins (first), Final (fourth), and The Beginning (final) are now streaming on Netflix. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (second) and The Legend Ends (third) are streaming on Funimation.
Speed Racer
Speed Racer is completely steers into the wacky world of anime. Now with the ongoing observation of audience towards anime and manga adaptations, this movie is getting more love than it ever did before. Speed Racer is now streaming on Max.
