Michael Apted’s 1992 American Neo-Westerm mystery film Thunderheart is loosely based on the fictional portrayal of events relating to the 1973 Wounded Knee incident. In the event, the American Indian Movement seized the South Dakota town of Wounded Knee in protest against federal government policy regarding Native Americans. The film stars Val Kilmer, Sam Shepard, Graham Greene, Sheila Tousey, and Fred Ward.
Hostiles
