Baldur’s Gate 3 is a role playing and adventure filled video game. The game was developed and published by Larian Studios. This is the third major instalment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise which is based on the tabletop role playing system of Dungeons & Dragons. The rich world of the game offers many possibilities where gamers can experience multiple narratives. The expansive game feels like an epic adventure across the Sword Coast. The world is so vast that many people recommend to take it one day at a time as if you try to complete everything then you’ll go down the abyss and never climb back up. However, the ocean is never big enough, there is always some room for expansion and that is what we’ll talk about today. What can we expect in Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC?

What Can You Expect In Baldur Gate 3 DLC?

Avernus would be a great setting for Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC. This is not a random prediction but there is a real possibility of this happening. Avernus is the first layer of the Nine Hells present in Dungeons and Dragons lore that makes a couple of appearances in Baldur’s Gate 3 and is mentioned even more throughout the game. Many companions have their arcs tied in within the predominant forces found in the Hells, including the Archduchess of Avernus Zariel.

Out of all the ways Baldur’s Gate 3 can end, one of the narrative issues that the makers of the game will face is how to avoid an expansion’s premise contradicting some of the base game’s endings. This can be negated if the story takes place in an entirely different plane with some references to the choices players made. This can be like a standalone experience. A downside to an expansion like this will be the beloved cast of the base game will be absent. Unless there is a feature that allows players to import characters like Karlach and Wyll can appear since they would have reason to be in Avernus. However, others might not.

Whatever approach is used but having a setting literally in hell will provide the perfect opportunity to raise the level cap to somewhere like level 16 and also increase the stakes as Avernus will have greater threats.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to PS5 on September 6, and it is available now on PC.
