On July 29, Digimon Survive will be launched by Bandai Namco on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam. The marketing campaign has ramped up with less than a month to go, and a new gameplay trailer has been revealed, showcasing more of what gamers can look forward to in the video game when it releases later this month. Check out the trailer below!
Digimon Survive Trailer Explains Battle Mechanics And Dialogue Effects
The latest gameplay trailer makes it clearer than ever why Bandai Namco has called Digimon Survive a “hybrid visual novel and tactical RPG.” While the actual gameplay has all the hallmarks of a tactical RPG with turn-based combat on a grid-based battleground, the global map and conversations have a more visual novel vibe.
The upcoming release date marks the end of a long road for Digimon Survive. Before the July 29 release date was decided, it had previously undergone numerous delays. It’s difficult to say at this point whether those delays produced a video game deserving of the Digimon franchise, but we won’t have to wait long to find out.
The official Digimon Survive description from Bandai Namco reads, “After getting lost on a school trip, Takuma Momozuka finds himself transported to a world inhabited by ferocious foes and new allies. Join Takuma and his friends as they fight their way back home. Craft your story in this thrilling visual novel with turn-based combat.”
Digimon Survive is currently available to pre-order. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles can run the PS4 and Xbox One versions, respectively. The game also comes with additional launch bonuses in the form of the Guilmon DLC and HP Support Equipment.
