“5 hours in, God Of War Ragnarök is a welcome, well-crafted return to a modern classic… It’s a sort of platonic sequel, at least from what I’ve played so far: More story, more world, and, of course, way less “Boy!”

William Hughes from A.V. Club

“God of War Ragnarök’s first hours are pure comfort violence… The comforting, polished gameplay of the first few hours that already has me hooked. Count me in for however long it takes.”

from Polygon

“So far, God of War Ragnarök is living up to the unfair expectations we’ve layed atop its imposing, pale shoulders. The first five hours of the game are impressive, but it also manages to feel like the surface has barely been scratched.”

Kyle Hilliard from GameInformer

“God of War Ragnarok has a lot to live up to and so far I’m happy to say that I’m loving the opening moments… it has delivered an engaging, emotional story with portions of Kratos violently ripping things in half sprinkled in during the touching opening story beats.”

Destin Legarie from IGN

“Yes, it’s early, and I can’t yet say where things go from here. I’m not sure if I’ve necessarily been surprised by anything yet here, but I’m certainly enjoying my time a great deal.”

Paul Tassi from Forbes

“At the very least, I am confident that it is going to be a good game. Now I am just waiting to see if it is going to be an exceptional one.”

from Gamespot

“The year’s biggest PlayStation exclusive is shaping up to be unforgettable”

Jasper Pickering from Independent

“God of War Ragnarok” is a sequel that plays it safe, at least in its opening hours… In “Ragnarok,” there’s the sense that the character, creator and player are all on the same journey together, a rare feat of emotional resonance in gaming. To get the chance to see it to its end, regardless of the underlying hardware, is its own reward.”

from The Washington Post
