Its funny that how the moment we were all waiting for came, stayed briefly, and then passed just like the entire year did. When you look a few months back to the time Santa Monica’s team was being literally harassed by fans, it is even funnier. In the snap of our fingers, God of War: Ragnarok touched all our lives and left a huge hole in our hearts “which grows the more you take away”. Get it? Anyways, now that the short lived Norse saga has been concluded, fans have been left asking what is next for the manliest God who ever walked Greece and Midgard. Well, today we have some exciting new piece of information which has got fans all around the globe really hyped up and if you read the title of the article, you know you are in for a treat!
Yes, Kratos Can Spar With Thor in God of War: Ragnarok NG+ Mode!
In a really surprising move by Sony, the New Game Plus mode or NG+ for God of War: Ragnarok has been directly released! I mean this has to be the most casual major update in the history of AAA games. God of War: Ragnarok is not just one of the biggest Sony PS property but also one of the biggest names in the gaming industry, so such a random release devoid of any marketing was a bit unexpected. Since, November 2022 fans have been eagerly waiting for the addition of NG+ mode as it brings along a bunch of new items and allows players to test their limits further. So, now that it is out, you must be wondering what all is new and what are the new level caps. For that check out this link but this particular article will talk about one of the most kickass things about this update!
Remember Niflheim, the realm of mist? Yeah the one where you did all that grinding in God of War 2018 and the realm where you found the souls of Odin’s Raven in God of War: Ragnarok. Well, so far it served three major purposes in the game which were opening Odin’s Raven’s chests, rescuing Tyr, and fighting one of those Berserkers. Now an incredible new feature has been added to Niflheim as a part of NG+ update, i.e. a sparring arena. In this arena, just like Musphelheim, you can train harder but at the same time, have a lot of fun. Why? Because here you can also choose any playable companion you want. So, with this we can even see Kratos and Thor fight together!
Yup, you heard that right! The NG+ mode allows you to test your weapons, skills, and train with your companions in the Niflheim sparring ring. Alongside a selection of new enemies for you to face off against, you will now be able to play as either Kratos or Atreus and choose any of the following companion characters to fight beside you:
- Atreus (with Kratos)
- Freya
- Brok
- Sindri
- Angrboda
- Ingrid
- Thor
- Thrúd
So, you can experiment with combos of characters you didn’t get to experience in the main game like Kratos and Thor, or Kratos and Thrud, or Kratos and Ingrid, or Atreus and Freya etc. One thing is for sure, you can have a lot of fun with all these options! I personally am really excited to check out this arena and I am sure this is enough to pull many fans back to this epic game!
You can read the more minor bits about the NG+ mode by visiting the official PS Blog page or clicking this link. God of War: Ragnarok is available to play on Play Station 5 and Play Station 4.
