As you all might know by know, God of War: Ragnarok is all set to release of 9th November 2022 and the pre-orders for the game are now live. The first trailer was released during last year’s Playstation showcase and from that many things became quite clear. We know that Ragnarok is upon Midgard and that Kratos, Boy, and Head aim to stop it with the help of Tyr (Norse God of War). In their path they are sure to find some new allies and enemies. And so far, with all the build up we have seen, Odin will probably be the main antagonist of the game. While, Odin has been confirmed to appear in God of War: Ragnarok, can he be the final boss of the game?

Will Odin Be A Boss In God of War: Ragnarok?

By ArtStation

Odin Allfather is all set to debut in God of War: Ragnarok and will be voiced by none other than the Emmy Award winning actor, Richard Schiff. Odin, also known as the Allfather, is the Norse God of the Sky, War, Death, Wisdom, Poetry, and Magic, the King of Asgard, and the King of the Aesir Gods. He is the eldest son of Borr, the father of Thor, Baldur, Týr, Hodr, and Bragi, grandfather of Magni and Modi, husband of Fjörgyn, and the ex-husband of Freya. He is also the nephew of Mimir but ordered a lifetime of suffering for Mimir until he was rescued by Kratos and Atreus (well, his head was).

Odin ordered Thor to massacre the giants at his will which led to the extinction of their race. That aside, Odin had Týr imprisoned and spread rumors that he had died and as result, everyone in the Nine Realms believed Týr to be gone forever. So, the list of Odin’s ill-deeds and horrors is quite long and here’s what Mimir had to say about him which explains his personality is one sentence, “Ruthless? Barbaric? Heartless? That’s Odin.”

From what we have experiences in God of War (2018) and seen so far in God of War: Ragnarok, Odin is surely going to be the main antagonist of the series. If we logically analyze, then Mimir, Tyr, the Midgard Serpent, and Angraboda are all enemies of Odin and the allies of Kratos and Atreus. That aside, Atreus was revealed to be Loki and is prophesied to cause the doom of the Norse Gods. Add to that the fact that Fenrir made an appearance in God of War: Ragnarok’s latest teaser and is more likely to be an ally than an enemy. Why is this important, you may ask? Well, in Norse mythology, it is Fenrir who devours Odin and is the sacred enemy of Allfather.

Also, the game’s art director Raf Grasseti recently stated that Odin was the hardest God of War: Ragnarok character to design. That definitely doesn’t just mean appearance wise, and it is possible that it was actually his boss fight mechanics that gave designers a hard time. So, keeping all of this mind, Odin will surely be a boss fight and Kratos, and Atreus might fight alongside Fenrir to defeat the Norse God of Gods. What do you think?
