God of War Ragnarok Atreus Fenrir Skol Hati

God of War: Ragnarok is the newest and the final game in the Norse mythology saga. The game is a sequel to the hit God of War reboot that came out in 2018. Since, the sequel was announced the hype around it has been enormous. Despite the hype around the game that was so massive the game has managed to surpass the ridiculous expectations from fans. The story of the game is so rich and fulfilling that no one expected that the sequel would be better than the original game which was at its time considered to be perfect. The sequel picks up directly where the last game left us where our protagonist has to deal with the consequences of the past. The visuals and gameplay of the sequel is awestriking to the point where it almost feels like seamless.

The game offered us many things we wanted to see, the game gave us many things we didn’t want to see, The game even gave us the things that we didn’t expect to see. However, the end of the game left us with a million possibilities where we’re unsure what the next installment could look like especially given the striking note the game ends on.

God of War: Ragnarok- What Can a Potential Sequel Look Like?

God of War: Ragnarok - Atreus Confirmed As Playable Character by Latest Leaks

God of War: Ragnarok ends on a very interesting note where even if the main character of the series- Kratos is alive at the end of the game, it seems like his journey in this universe has come to a natural conclusion. Kratos has finally found a way to come to term with his past and demons and live life in a peaceful manner other then causing chaos wrecking havoc in the entire world. His character arc by the end of this game seems like has come to a natural stopping point, where are main character is has found peace.

He is very much alive but seems like his story has ended. However, the story of his son-Atreus seems to have just started as by the end of this game he has realized that he must go on a journey where he must find the remaining giants in the world. The upcoming game in the franchise could explore Atreus’ story and journey in this new mission rather showing Kratos fighting in another pantheon (which feels completely against what he would actually want).

Taking Atreus as the main character will give the creators of the game a huge opportunity to present a fresh perspective and story for the next game. Kratos can still very much be the part of the game but he’ll be sidelined as the focal point would be Atreus. Ragnarok was also the first time when in a God of War game allowed the players to control another character with Kratos and that character was Atreus. So, it looks like the next game is already heading in the direction of making Atreus the protagonist.

For now it seems like the future of the God of War franchise can head into any direction that Santa Monica Studio want it to but personally it would be the best choice to tell Atreus’ story from the next game than Kratos. However, as Atreus is young there is a long time till he gains powers like Kratos and becomes a legend in himself. For now he is just a kid.
