God of War: Ragnarok is all set to release of 9th November 2022 and the pre-orders for the game are now live. The first trailer was released during last year’s Playstation showcase and from that many things became quite clear. We know that Ragnarok is upon Midgard and that Kratos, Boy, and Head aim to stop it with the help of Tyr (Norse God of War). So, now that the game is pretty close we’ll be getting all sorts of new information about it and today we have for you the latest interview of the Tyr voice actor Ben Prendergast.
God of War: Ragnarok – Voice Actor Ben Prendergast Talks About Tyr
So, we have got to know a bunch of new information about the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok’s new major character Tyr. If you are unaware, Tyr is the Norse God of War and Justice but unlike other Gods, he strived for peace. He didn’t quite agree with Odin and Thor’s massacre of the Giants and tried to help the remaining Giants by locking their realm for anyone but him to access. So, Odin had Týr imprisoned and spread rumors that he had died and as result, everyone in the Nine Realms believed Týr to be gone forever. But as we know from the trailer, he is all set to help Kratos and Loki in stopping Ragnarok.
According to this latest interview of Tyr voice actor, he is somewhere around 9 Feet 6 Inches tall in God of War: Ragnarok. “What is he (Tyr)? He’s 9 foot 6 inches something… so yeah a big, big, giant of a man. So, yeah that was a lot of fun… (later) You get on the stage and you see your character in relation to the other characters and he is like 4 foot taller than the lead character,” said Ben Prendergast. This aside, he went on to explain the relationship between Fenrir the Wolf and Tyr as per Norse Mythology, however Santa Monica Studios may or may not present his story exactly like Norse Mythology.
“Anyone who knows about the Norse Mythology knows this story about Tyr (and Fenrir). Fenrir the wolf had gotten free and the only way to bind him was using these threads (from cat’s tear and like crazy stuff). And the only way they could get him to stand still was for Tyr to put his hand into Fenrir’s mouth and say, ‘Look, it is not a trap and I am putting this hand in your mouth and if it is a trap then you can bite my hand off’. And it was a trap so Fenrir bit his hand off. So, there’s a lot that does fit into this game but then Santa Monica Studios departs from that when they want to,” he clarified.
Apart from that, he also stated that when Kratos finds Tyr, he is quite messed up because of all that he has endured at the hands of Odin and other Gods. So, it is possible that Kratos delivers a kind of motivational speech to him while holding his shoulders gently as shown in the trailer. This would incite Tyr to help him and Atreus in the quest to stop Ragnarok and achieve the peace that Tyr has always desired.
