Horizon Forbidden West 'Burning Shores' DLC To Release in April 2023, Announcement Soon!

Sony is quite literally dominating the gaming scenario these days and a big reason for that is its PS Exclusive games. While Microsoft and Sony stand toe to toe in terms of gaming consoles, what sets PlayStation apart is the kind of incredible games SIE comes up with. From epic God of War series to The Last of Us series and Marvel’s Spider-Man series, PS has come out with some of the best games ever made. One other such series is the Horizon series which kicked off with Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017 and delivered an equally amazing sequel Horizon Forbidden West earlier this year. The Game of the Year nominee has won hearts of millions of fans and even though it might not win, it will surely be listed among the best games ever made. As it happens, we have some good news for the fans because the DLC for HFW is about to be announced real soon!

Horizon Forbidden West – The Burning Shores DLC Is Coming!

Horizon Forbidden West was released on February 18, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game is a direct sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn and allows players to explore the mysterious frontier known as the Forbidden West, as the character of Alloy. Forbidden West is basically a post-apocalyptic version of the Western United States, specifically the states of California, Nevada, and Utah. The game offers players around 30 hours of main story and a whopping 90 hours of total completion time. But fans being fans, always want more and therefore, we’ll be getting a new DLC about The Burning Shores area in the game.

The leak (thanks to Insider Gaming) comes from popular leaker “The Snitch” as he teased fans with an image of San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. As you may know, this area is called The Burning Shores in the game and is mentioned by name a couple of times throughout Horizon Forbidden West. You can find its reference in Gildun’s diary where it is mentioned to be south of the Spinebreak and was referenced by Brin as being the “place of flames and brine”. If you currently try to explore further south you are told to “Turn back” but with the coming of this DLC, you’ll be able to explore this area.

Honestly, this sounds like much more than what usually a DLC is. It seems like a full expansion pack with lots to do and explore, something like what Witcher 3 did, although not that extensive. Witcher 3’s two expansions were basically full blown games as they offered more than 20-30 hours of playtime each. We do not expect that much from The Burning Shores DLC but it seems pretty solid. In fact, some players who managed to get a closer look using their Sunwing, saw there’s a replica of the arched Memorial Bridge near Las Vegas, Nevada; as well as potentially the Hoover Dam. So, fans are definitely in for a treat.

The Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West is expected to come out in April 2023, as per Insider Gaming. Before that, Horizon Call of the Mountain will release on 22 February 2023 for PlayStation VR 2 (PS5).
