Sony’s original games are some of the best games ever made with loads of Game Awards titles to their names. One such game is Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) which was highly praised for its incredible VFX, open world, and insane swing mechanics which made users feel like Spidey themselves. Then, in 2020 we got its spin-off called Spider-Man: Miles Morales which was equally praised however was criticized a bit for its short length. Since then fans have been eagerly waiting Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which is all set to release this year, probably during fall. Well, today we have an awesome update for you guys!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Release Date Set To Compete With Starfield
As epic as Sony’s original games are, SIE is developing an annoying habit of keeping the fans in the dark right till the end. As you you remember, they literally made fans beg for a release update for God of War: Ragnarok last year. The game came out in November and the fans only got to know the release date in July. Same seems to be the case with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, only worse as we don’t even have a full length trailer for it yet. Anyways, that might change with Sony PlayStation Showcase 2023 or with the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. For today, however, we have some solid information regarding the release date of the game.
It has been confirmed by numerous insiders that Sony is targeting a fall 2023 release for Marvel’s SM2 but today we have a more concreate time frame. According to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is releasing in September. While talking about the potential reasons for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game, Schreier mentioned how Marvel’s SM2 September release might be a factor.
So, here’s the deal a September release is not just being rumored since a few months but also makes perfect sense. First of all, it could act as Sony’s reply to Starfield which is all set to debut on 6th September. Although, it will probably not release on the same date, but we can expect it a week or two after. Secondly, Marvel’s Spider-Man was also released on 7th September, 2018, so it again makes sense to release SM2 in September. Lastly, no major MCU or Spider-Verse releases are planned for September 2023 as well, so Marvel’s SM2 can fill that vacuum for Marvel stans as well.
Also, considering how casually Schreier and many other insiders are talking about September release for SM2, it seems like common inside information at this point. That’s it from our side today, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is all set to debut exclusively for PS5 in 2023 and will feature multiple playable characters including Peter Parker, Miles-Morales and probably Venom too. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is all set to debut on 2 June 2023.
