A live-action movie based on Pac-Man, the iconic arcade game character with an insatiable appetite, is now in production. The film is supported by “Jane the Virgin” actor Justin Baldoni’s production business, Wayfarer Studios, along with the Japanese video game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, which has created PacMan, Ace Combat, Galaga, and Tekken.
Pac-Man The Arcade Game Has Already Inspired Two Television Series
In the decades that followed, Pac-Man continued to be released on new consoles and mobile apps in the United States. Guinness World Records recognised it as the “most successful coin-operated game machine” in 2005. A 1980s animated TV series with the same name that aired on ABC and a 2013 cartoon series called “Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures” that aired on Disney XD in the United States were both based on the popular video game in which a starving Pac-Man chomps his way through a maze while trying to escape deadly ghosts.
However, Pac-Man has only existed as a highlighter-yellow visage on a pixelated screen up until now. The live-action movie version’s specifics, such as the storyline and the character’s physical representation, are still unknown. More video games are currently being adapted for the big screen besides Pac-Man. Live-action movies based on the card game Uno, Matchbox cars, and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em are now under production by the toy corporation Mattel.
Chuck Williams, who worked as a producer on Paramount’s box office smash “Sonic the Hedgehog,” has expertise in adapting video games for the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled Pac-Man movie will be based on Williams’ story. Williams and Tim Kwok will produce on behalf of Lightbeam Entertainment, while Baldoni, Manu Gargi, and Andrew Calof will produce through Wayfarer Studios.
