The Game Awards is an award event that celebrates gaming each year by awarding the deserving candidates in the world of gaming. The award show first started in 2014 and soon became an annualized event. The award shows are hosted and produced by game journalist Geoff Keighley, who previously worked for over ten years on the Spike Video Game Awards. The awards are normally held in December every year. The nominations for the awards are announced a month before the event i.e., November. The awards are normally held in person but they are also live streamed on TikTok. This year the awards will be held in the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Geoff Keighley, the founder of the awards announced this year’s awards. However, it looks like game appreciation will not be the only thing at the Game Awards. Along with many other first looks, an exclusive trailer for Tekken 8 will be released at the award function.
The Game Awards Will Give Us A Trailer For Tekken 8!
Tekken 8 is the new iteration of the long running Tekken series. The game has been development for sometime now as Bandai Namco Entertainment had revealed which implied a 2023 release. As Japan’s fiscal year ends on 31st March 2023, we can expect the game to launch after that. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and it will surely flex that when an exclusive trailer for the same is revealed at the next week’s Game Awards. Outside of the game’s initial reveal video, this will seemingly be the first time that we’ve seen the title in action.
If not a full fledged trailer than at least some gameplay footage is afoot. Bandai Namco can even reveal the characters that are supposed to appear in the new game. For now only two characters are confirmed to appear in Tekken 8: Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. It remains to be seen if Tekken 8 will feature a roster of fighters as deep as what was seen with Tekken 7, all these speculations would soon be clarified as Bandai Namco would eventually reveal more about the game in the coming months.
As per Namco, the game doesn’t have release date but will be released in 2023’s fiscal year, that opens up a window from March 2023 to April 2024. Whenever it does hit store shelves, though, it will be playable on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

The Game Awards 2022 are scheduled to take place on 8th December 2022.
