The Game Awards is an award event that celebrates gaming each year by awarding the deserving candidates in the world of gaming. The award show first started in 2014 and soon became an annualized event. The award shows are hosted and produced by game journalist Geoff Keighley, who previously worked for over ten years on the Spike Video Game Awards. The awards are normally held in December every year. The nominations for the awards are announced a month before the event i.e., November. The awards are normally held in person but they are also live streamed on TikTok. This year the awards will be held in the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Who are the Frontrunners in The Game Awards 2022?
This is the ninth addition of The Game Awards, Keighley announced through Twitter. The tweet said, “Hard to believe this is our ninth show,” Keighley said. “We’ve been working all year to bring you something very special.” The date for the awards event is set on Thursday, 8th December 2022. While the nominations of this year’s awards are not announced yet it is safe to assume that Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West are the frontrunners for this year.
God of War: Ragnarok is another game coming this year which can give strong competition to above mentioned games. This year the awards will also add another category called “Best Adaptation”. The award show believes that, “recognize outstanding work adapting video game IP to other entertainment forms.” We don’t the time of the ceremony simply the location of the show. The award function sounds like a blast and it is one of the things to look out for this year.
