The Witcher 4 Project Sirius and Project Polaris Games Explained

Well, what more can we say as we all know that The Witcher universe is in a bit of a pickle right now. The constant debacles by the Netflix Witcher-verse has left a serious dent on one of the bet dark fantasy franchises of all time in all media. The way they have adapted the best selling books and video games series is nothing short of disastrous especially The Witcher: Blood Origin spin-off. And after Henry Cavill’s exit and fan’s increasing loss of respect for the writers, Netflix Witcher Universe might just be nearing end or complete revamp. Anyways, the one thing Witcher that did not disappoint in the recent past was The Witcher 3 Next Gen update which one again dragged fans back into the world of Witcher. Also, as you may know, CD Projekt Red announced quite a few exciting Witcher game updates last year. That is exactly what we are going to talk about today.

What Is The Witcher Project Sirius and Project Polaris?

Ok, so first of all, as you may know The Witcher (2007) remake is under development at CDPR but that is neither Project Sirius nor Project Polaris. The Witcher remake has, in fact, been codename, Canis Majoris. It will be rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 by Fool’s Theory with full creative supervision from The Witcher series staff and CDPR. Now let us move on to the Project Sirius and Project Polaris of the matter.

So, The Witcher: Project Sirius is a codename for a game developed by The Molasses Flood and created with support from CDPR. It is said to differ from past productions, offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience including a campaign with quests and a story. However it seems like the Netflix failures have led the devs to reconsider and completely rebuild the concept from scratch. CD Projekt said in a note to its investors that this decision was due to it re-evaluating “the scope and commercial potential of the original concept of Project Sirius, and ongoing work on formulating a new framework for this project”.

While we earlier believed the project might be moving forward with a fin pace, it now seems it will now be reconsidered and revamped. Now let us move on to The Witcher: Project Polaris. Its fairly easy to understand, as Polaris is a codename for the next installment in the series aka what some of you might refer as The Witcher 4. It will use Unreal Engine 5 instead of REDengine, which the two previous games used. The game is to be the beginning of a new saga. CDPR aim to release two more games after Polaris, creating a new AAA RPG trilogy. To know more about Witcher 4, its teasers and concepts, click this link here.
