Grand Theft Auto is one of the most famous titles in the gaming world, better known as GTA. I mean I don’t think there is anyone unfamiliar with the game. Even a non-gamer like me knows about GTA and even follows news related to it to some level. We all know what havoc the much awaited trailer for the newest edition of the game caused last year. GTA 6 has to be the most hyped game to ever release. The trailer wasn’t even that great but the fact we are getting a new GTA game after more than a decade caused the riot on the internet. We know that the game will release in 2025 but the pre-orders are set to begin soon. So, how much will the game cost? Well, we have no official figure but some leaks have suggested a price range.
GTA 6: Has The Price Been Leaked!
Rockstar Games hasn’t revealed anything but there are some signs that suggest us a price range. Spoiler alert: It will be the most expensive game of the franchise. Back in 2013, GTA 5 released on PS3 and eventually PS4 at the traditional price of $59.99. However, a lot has changed since. The game development cycles have increased along with their cost of creating has increased. Considering that, many game publishers have opted for a price hike, releasing next-gen games at an elevated $69.99 USD.
GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive has also been one of the publishers to opt this strategy. Their recent A-list titles like NBA 2K24 and Marvel’s Midnight Suns at $70 USD instead of $60 USD. The total marketing and development cost of GTA 6 is estimated to be around $2 billion. Meaning it is almost certain Rockstar will opt to release the game at a higher price. Many speculations point towards a rumored price exceeding that $70 projected price point, with some wondering if the video game giant would sell GTA 6 for $100 or more.
Even if the game is priced that high, I don’t think that will change anything and gamers will still go crazy when it releases. However, $70 has become an industry standard and no matter the size of the game, and Take-Two assumedly will not deviate from that. Currently, players can’t pre-order GTA 6 on their preferred platforms. Generally, Rockstar opens pre-orders only a few months before the game’s release. The last new release from the studio, Red Dead Redemption 2 was able to be pre-bought starting June 18th of its release year.
Only 130 days before it hit PS4 and Xbox One consoles. If the rumors about GTA 6’s release date are true – Q1 of 2025, then fans should be able to pre-order the game sometime in September or October 2024.
GTA 6 doesn’t have a release date at the time of writing but it will release sometime in 2025.
