The wait for a return to the world of A Quiet Place will be a little longer than anticipated for horror fans. After both of John Krasinski’s movies became box office successes, Paramount has decided to go all-in on the franchise. There will be a third entry in the main series, but not before Paramount releases A Quiet Place: Day One. According to an announcement on Tuesday from Paramount, the movie’s release date was delayed by a few months. The original release date for Pig director Michael Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place: Day One was September 22, 2023. The movie is now set to hit theatres on March 8, 2024.
John Krasinski Will Not Be Directing A Quiet Place Prequel
Since the movie will follow various characters from the beginning of the alien invasion, neither Krasinski nor Emily Blunt is anticipated to appear in A Quiet Place: Day One. However, Krasinski will continue to serve as a producer, along with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller, while Allyson Seeger will be the executive producer.
Jeff Nichols, who helmed Mud, was initially slated to oversee A Quiet Place: Day One. However, Nichols left the project in October. In January, Sarnoski was hired to take on his position after Pig’s commercial success. When Krasinski initially announced he wouldn’t be directing the prequel, he mentioned that Nichols was his first pick to take over.
Besides pushing back the new QP film to 2024, Paramount has also delayed the schedule for another project directed by Krasinski. Officially titled ‘If’, the Ryan Reynolds-starrer, was initially scheduled to hit theatres in November 2023, but its new release date is May 24, 2024.
A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to hit theatres in 2024. The first two movies are available for streaming on Paramount+.
