A Quiet Place was John Krasinski’s brainchild. After starring in The Office, no one expected John Krasinski to take up direction and deliver with one of the finest monster-thriller movies of the past decade. For a debutant director, A Quiet Place is no less than a perfect film to make. Be it the concept, the sheer execution or the screenplay, everything was married beautifully with each other. The audience fell in love with the film, so much so that a sequel was released which may not have been as good as the first one but was a solid follow-up. The popularity of the franchise just kept bigger and bigger. Now another film is coming out in the franchise, it is not a sequel but rather a prequel. The film which will finally tell us the story of the day these aliens first arrived on Earth.
A Quiet Place: Day One Footage Description!
Paramount Pictures in their panel at CinemaCon 2023, showed some special footage from A Quiet Place: Day One to the audience in attendance. Unfortunately, this footage was only shown to the audience present there and will not be released online. Even if we won’t be able to see the footage, we do have a description.
We follow Lupita Nyong’o’s everyday citizen-type character as she’s riding the bus in New York City. Suddenly all traffic stops and people are seen walking out of their cars and staring at the sky. A meteor took out half the bus Lupita’s in, and she slowly walks towards the torn half of the bus (mirroring that image in A Quiet Place Part II where Millicent Simmonds’s Regan stands in the middle of a blasted hole on the side of a train car).
More people surround the scene and stand in the middle of the street as they all look up to the sky and witness a meteor shower, which is of course all the aliens arriving on Earth for the first time. What follows next is a quick montage of more of the film’s action, revealing Djimon Hounsou’s returning character from A Quiet Place Part II, a shot of Alex Wolff’s character running in fear, and a brief moment of Joseph Quinn’s character screeching in pain. The brief footage highlights how humans still don’t know about the aliens’ attraction to sound, so naturally, crowds of people are heard and seen getting taken out in great numbers.
The prequel stars Djimon Hounsou, Joseph Quinn, Lupita Nyong’o and Alex Wolff. Pig director Michael Sarnoski is helming the film, he has co-written the film with Jeff Nichols. A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to hit theatres on March 8, 2024. The first two movies are available for streaming on Paramount+.
