Ari Aster is one of the most remarkable voices from the indie film community that specializes in the horror genre. The talented filmmaker made his debut with a horror masterpiece – Hereditary. Aster followed up his impressive debut with another exceptional venture – Midsommar. The film explored daylight horror, which is one of the hardest things to do in my opinion. However, the latest addition to Aster’s filmography was his weakest – Beau is Afraid. An epic misfire on all fronts. Irrespective of that, the promising director is bouncing back with his next film very soon. Here is everything we know about it.
Everything We Know About Eddington – Ari Aster’s Next!
Ari Aster’s next film is titled Eddington. Just to clarify, the film is not a biopic on the brilliant mathematician and scientist Arthur Eddington. In fact, the official synopsis of the film reads:
“A couple, Lindsay and Marc, are driving through New Mexico on their way to Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple runs out of gas just outside of small copper mining town: Eddington. Lindsay and Marc decide to enter the town for help. They are at first greeted very warmly, but as nightfall comes, the picturesque setting soon turns into a nightmare.”
We also have an update about the potential cast of the film. According to reports, Aster has assembled a star studded ensemble consisting of Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Joaquin Phoenix, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Clifton Collins Jr, Michael Ward, and others. The film will mark Aster’s second collaboration with Phoenix after the 2023 feature Beau Is Afraid.
The budget of the film remains unclear as of now. Assuming that the principal photography of the film is set to begin this month, then we can expect the film to land in theatres sometime in 2025. Besides directing and producing, Aster has also penned the script of the film.
Eddington doesn’t have a release date at the time of writing.
