Avatar 2 The Way of Water New Footage Revealed

In 2009, James Cameron astounded the world when he came out with his dream project called Avatar. The CGI in the film was otherworldly, something us mere mortals couldn’t handle. The crowds went crazy, this was movie that made 3D technology what it is today. The masses appreciated the film so much that it beat Cameron’s own Titanic to sit at the top of the Box Office ladder. The film grossed a sum of $2.7 billion worldwide and was claimed to be unbeatable and it was till about 10 years. Until another Box Office juggernaut finally dethroned it – Marvel’s big culmination to its Infinity Saga – Avengers Endgame. Endgame grossed over $2.8 billion worldwide and for the time being everyone thought it had Avatar beat. But there’s always a twist in the tale. Avatar re-released and it took its place at the top. It still remains the highest grossing film of all time.

Early last year, we got an update regarding the much talked about the Avatar sequel. We didn’t just get confirmation on one but rather 4 Avatar sequels. The first being Avatar 2: The Way of Water that’ll release this year in December. The much awaited sequel’s trailer was released earlier this year and the while the visuals were soothing, I think it is safe to say that the competition’s caught up but what is interesting is Disney letting Cameron make another 3 very expensive Avatar movies. Regardless, The Way of Water’s few scenes were shown at a Disney event.

Disney Stuns CineEurope with Avatar 2 Footage

Disney started its CineEurope by showcasing first twelve minutes of Thor: Love and Thunder and throughout showed us snippets of Haunted Mansion, Pixar’s Elemental and Strange World, and New Regency’s David O Russell-directed ensemble Amsterdam. Sam Mendes sent a video to talk about Searchlight’s Empire Of Light. The Avatar producer Jon Landau made appearance at the event and lauded Cameron’s upcoming spectacle.

Landau showcased 4 scenes from The Way of Water but before showcasing the scenes Landau added, “There is nothing more relatable than family.” He further said, “pushing the limits even further… every shot is designed for the biggest screen and highest resolution possible… I believe the audience wants this.” While the plot of the film is still pretty unclear, it is safe to say that the original actors are coming back with a few new additions. All we can do it is wait for further updates about the film and hope its official trailer releases soon.

Avatar: The Way of Water will release in theatres on 16th December 2022.
