Avatar 2: The Way of Water is the direct sequel to the highest grossing movie of all time. Yeah, no pressure then. The sequel has been in the works for a long time as James Cameron, director of Avatar wanted to expand on the world created by him. After Disney’s acquisition of Fox, they not only green lit the sequel rather other 4 follow-up films as well that are suppose to release every 2 years. The studio has sure put in a lot of trust in Cameron and given his track record with box office numbers, they’ve taken a calculated risk. Earlier this year we’d gotten our first look at the sequel as the official teaser was released by Disney. Since then we’ve been getting small nuggets of information and footages for the sequel but no official trailer yet.
Some official images have been released that give us an idea of what specific characters will look like in the sequel. Like Kate Winslet’s Na’vi. Considering the budget the sequel is being made on i.e., $250 million it is fair to say Cameron is cooking something meaty for the audiences. The visuals in the film might and should be better than the original, the heavy post production work might be the reason behind the trailer being delayed. That being said, Disney has been showcasing new footages from the film at many events. None of these footages have surfaced online. However, thankfully we have finally gotten a very promising update about the sequel’s trailer and is suggests the trailer will be here very soon.
Disney Will Release Avatar 2: The Way of Water’s Final Trailer Very Soon!
Avatar: The Way of Water’s trailer is to be released soon as Disney wants to starts its marketing campaign because the release date of the same is very near. According to industry insider Amit Chaudhari the next Avatar: The Way of Water trailer is imminent. Chaudhari, who works in trailer localization, tweeted that “Disney has a few more trailers scheduled before [Black Panther 2],” including a new look at the upcoming Avatar sequel. Just yesterday we got the first trailer of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania so what he is saying checks out.
Amit Chaudhary tweeted, “Hearing Disney has few more trailers scheduled before BP2 opens including Avatar 2. Also they’re planning to add Avatar Remastered version on Disney Plus HS next month.” Avatar’s remastered version coming to Disney+ makes sense as the original was only taken down because of the theatrical re-release. The sequel’s trailer releasing opens up two possibilities. One: It will release attached to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, just like the teaser trailer was released with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which later surfaced online.
Two: It will release in early November so that it can play in the theatres alongside Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Regardless, we’re sure that the trailer will release in early November. director James Cameron told The New York Times that he very well “could have made a sequel two years later,” but thinks he took the right tactic in waiting.
“I think I could have made a sequel two years later and have it bomb because people didn’t relate to the characters or the direction of the film. My personal experience goes like this: I made a sequel called “Aliens,” seven years after the first movie. It was very well received. I made a sequel called “Terminator 2,” seven years after the first movie. It did an order of magnitude of more, in revenue, than the first film.”
Cameron further noted, “I was a little concerned that I had stretched the tether too far, in our fast-paced, modern world, with “Avatar 2” coming in 12 years later. Right until we dropped the teaser trailer, and we got 148 million views in 24 hours. There’s that scarce seen but wondered at principle, which is, Wow, we haven’t seen that in a long time, but I remember how cool it was back then. Does that play in our favor? I don’t know. I guess we’re going to find out.”

When ‘exactly’ can we expect the trailer in the early November? Is the production budget 310M?
Hello, the production budget of Avatar: The Way of Water is $250 Million, which is higher than Avatar ($237 Million). The exact date for the trailer is not announced yet but I assume it will be out in the first week of November and if not then it will release with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Great post.
