Avatar 3 release date is confirmed, seems like we have to wait a while for the world of Pandora to return to theatres. In a recent interview with TV New Zealand, director James Cameron talked about the status of Avatar 3. The franchise director hinted that the upcoming film is maintaining a good pace amid its post-production years. “We’re into a very hectic two years of post-production right now. So it will be Christmas of ’25,” Cameron confirmed.

James Cameron Confirms Avatar 3 Release Date

Disney previously announced that the next three Avatar movies would be pushed back. Avatar 3 is scheduled for December 19, 2025, followed by Avatar 4 on December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2031.

In June 2023, Avatar producer Jon Landau updated about the upcoming film on X. “Each ‘Avatar’ film is an exciting but epic undertaking that takes time to bring to the quality level we as filmmakers strive for and audiences have come to expect. The team is hard at work and can’t wait to bring audiences back to Pandora in December 2025.”

Cameron has already hinted that he shot a lot of footage for Avatar 4. “I can’t tell you the details, but all I can say is that when I turned in the script for 2, the studio gave me three pages of notes,” Cameron explained to Collider. “And when I turned in the script for 3, they gave me a page of notes, so I was getting better. When I turned in the script for 4, the studio executive, and creative executive over the films wrote me an email that said, ‘Holy f-ck.’ And I said, ‘Well, where are the notes?’ And she said, ‘Those are the notes.’ Because it kind of goes nuts in a good way, right?”

Avatar 3 will have its theatrical debut on its previously scheduled date of December 19, 2025.
