If there is any movie that has single-handedly made this summer better for theatre owners, then it is Barbie. The Barbenheimer hype has taken over the world. The box office battle is already in Barbie’s favor. Oppenheimer has earned only half of what Barbie has accomplished. Although, for a R-rated biographical drama that is itself a huge achievement. Out of all records, Barbie is now headed towards another box office milestone. The film is on course to become 2023’s Highest Grosser, besting The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s $1.35 billion. However, there is one record that Barbie has already breached after its fifth weekend and created history! What is it? Keep reading to find.

Barbie Surpasses Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two At The Box Office!

Barbie has just created at Warner Bros. as the film has managed to topple Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two as the studio’s biggest theatrical hit ever. The Margot Robbie-led film has made over $1.34 billion at the box office worldwide as of writing. Deathly Hallows: Part 2 originally held the title of the highest global box office for a Warner Bros. film. And, with more time left in theaters, Barbie’s performance could still continue to grow even more.

Greta Gerwig’s summer smash is almost certain to surpass The Super Mario Bros. Movie this week, which will make it the Box Office King of 2023. There seems to be no other movie that will beat Barbie this year. But then again, no one expected Barbie to be such a success. So, the future is a mystery. Barbie will also have a limited IMAX release will run for one week beginning on September 22nd. This will take place before Gareth Edwards’ science-fiction film – The Creator releases in IMAX theaters on September 29th. The limited run should further help the film’s cause.

Barbie will also be officially available for Digital and VOD purchase on Tuesday, September 12.

The film’s script has been co-written with Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, Frances Ha, White Noise). Margot Robbie will star in the titular role with Ryan Gosling playing Ken, Barbie’s male counterpart. The rest of the cast includes, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Ncuti Gatwa, Alexandra Shipp, Ariana Greenblatt, Sharon Rooney, Ana Cruz Kayne, Emma Mackay and Hari Nef.
