Barbie movie’s new update will give fans hope to see Greta Gerwig’s film on Max. It is the highest-grossing Warner Bros. film of all time earning $1.44 billion at the worldwide box office. Written by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, the movie was released in theatres on July 21. Alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film stars Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu, Dua Lipa, John Cena, and more. Nearly four months have passed since its release, making fans curious when it will eventually start streaming on Max.
Barbie: HBO Max Streaming Release Date
Recently, Max posted on its official X (Twitter) account, “‘Barbie’ is streaming soon on Max. HBO Originals ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ ‘Succession,’ ‘The Sopranos’ and more are streaming on Max.”
Compared to other recent Warner Bros. releases, Barbie‘s release has taken significantly longer following its theatrical opening. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO mentioned back in August that Barbie would start streaming during the fall of 2023. The film has been available to purchase online since September 12 and its physical copies (4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD) were on October 17.
Here are several recent WB examples, that highlight the window between theatrical opening and streaming release date.

- Shazam! Fury of the Gods: March 17, 2023 – May 23, 2023
- Evil Dead Rise: April 21, 2023 – June 23, 2023
- The Flash: June 16, 2023 – August 25, 2023
- Blue Beetle: August 18, 2023 – November 17, 2023
Friday, November 17 would mark 119 days after its theatrical release. Gerwig’s film will perhaps be released on Max on Friday, November 24, or perhaps the next Friday, December 1, marking 133 days after its theatrical opening.
