The beloved toy line for Mattel- Barbie is getting its own live action movie that stars Margot Robbie in the lead role. The movie is now produced by Warner Bros. Although, a while back Sony was supposed produce it with Amy Schumer or Anne Hathaway being approached for the titular role. The take over by Warner Bros. significantly revamped the story and production of the film. They brought Little Women director Greta Gerwig on board to helm the film. Her inclusion in the movie seemed to have set it in the right direction. Last month Warner Bros. released Margot Robbie’s first look as Barbie and fans fell heels over head over her. Then just last week Warner Bros. released Ryan Gosling’s first look as Ken, Barbie’s male counterpart. While most fans loved his look many pointed out that he was too old to play the part.
Regardless, the filming of the movie is still going in Leavesden, London under strict security for quite a time now. It was only inevitable that some fans sneak in and grab a few pictures of the set. Today we have some set photos that shows Margot Robbie in a new attire.
Barbie Margot Robbie in Pink Bell-Bottom
The photos reveal Margot in a pink Bell-Bottom as she is walking out of her trailer. As she is not performing or on set in the snap it is really difficult to predict what scene is this in. The pink outfit goes hand in hand with the pink backgrounds we saw in Robbie’s and Gosling’s first looks. The first looks had revealed Margot driving a convertible with a pink background and Gosling in a cut-off denim jacket and jeans, complementing his hunky physique. The story of the film is still pretty much under wraps as it is still in production. The film along with a talented Director also packs in an impressive cast like America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, and Will Ferrell. Reportedly, Rae, Hari Nef, Liu, and Ncuti Gatwa are playing different version of Barbie and Ken, respectively. Even though the film is still in production it has managed to create quite a buzz around it with the sizzling first looks and these set images.
While the first looks gave us the vibe of 60’s American beach girl, the new images are quite different from it and they carry a 70’s rodeo superstar vibe. Having said that I think it is safe to say the movie won’t take place in the modern time. The film had promised to subvert the viewer’s expectations and I think it has been doing that pretty well until now. We hope to get more updates about the Barbie as the production for the same concludes. We’re very excited to see first looks for the characters in the film.
