I think we’re all familiar with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The dynamic duo are well known for writing Good Will Hunting in 1997 which got them their first Oscar. However, after the insane critical and commercial success of the film, the duo didn’t return to write after that. It was not as if they broke-up but simply got busy in their individual life outside of their connected existence. Both found success in their respective careers after Good Will Hunting. Matt Damon became an extremely successful and capable actor who starred in films of superb caliber. Ben Affleck on the other had split his interest in acting and direction. Affleck might not have been as good of an actor like Damon but he did find quite a bit of success in direction. He directed the Oscar winning film Argo in 2012.
However, the duo returned to write the 2021 film The Last Duel which was directed by Ridley Scott. The film was very written and was certainly one of the better films that came out in 2021. With a budget of more than $100 million, the film choked at the box office and only earned $30 million. A colossal flop! Both Damon and Affleck starred in the along with Adam Driver and Jodie Comer, despite having such a capable cast and a revered director, the film was a commercial failure. Seeing this many people suspected whether or not the duo will return to write every again and it looks like the failure of Last Duel wasn’t strong enough to separate them as they have returned to write a new film together which will come out sometime this year.
Amazon Prime’s Air Movie: The New Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Collaboration!
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon has once again connected their creative forces for a new film called Air which will be having a limited release on 5th April 2023 and then will debut on Amazon Prime on a later date. Despite the box office failure of The Last Duel it is almost a miracle that Air is getting a theatre release at all, moreover, Amazon unlike Netflix never gives its titles a theatrical release. Only in extremely rare cases. Well, this appears to be one of them.
The plot of Air follows, “Nike’s quest to recruit a rookie Michael Jordan as an ambassador for the sneaker company. This partnership revolutionized sports and gave birth to the iconic Air Jordan brand. The story specifically follows two Nike executives and their unlikely attempts to sign Jordan to an endorsement deal, as well as Deloris Jordan, who knew her son’s worth and refused to compromise her vision.”
Ben Affleck has directed the film and a new writer has written the film called Alex Convery. Matt Damon leads the cast while the supporting actors include Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Matthew Maher, Tom Papa, Joel Gretsch, Gustaf Skarsgård, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon and Jessica Green.
Air supposed to release on Amazon Prime on undisclosed date.
