Butcher’s Crossing is based on the 1960 novel of the same name by John Edward Williams. The film is a western drama directed by Gabe Polsky. The premise of the film is the story of “an Ivy League dropout who travels to the Colorado wilderness, where he joins a team of buffalo hunters on a journey that will end up putting his life and mental health at risk.” Starring in Butcher’s Crossing are Nicolas Cage, Fred Hechinger, Xander Berkeley, Rachel Keller, Jeremy Bobb, and Paul Raci. Many people have varying opinions about Nicholas Cage, however, I’ve always pegged him for an outstanding performer despite starring in some duds. Butcher’s Crossing also sees him in a wretched role. The film had a quite theatrical run, so if you missed this in theatres then here’s when you can buy a physical copy.
Butcher’s Crossing Physical Media Will Be Available Next Week!
Butcher’s Crossing first debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last year where it was recognized for its engaging character dynamics and cinematography. The film was made on a budget of $10 million and didn’t enjoy a proper theatrical run. The Gabe Polsky directorial had limited marketing and less screens. There are no substantial figures available for the film’s box office performance but of what I could find, the Nicholas Cage starrer didn’t even cross the $1 million mark worldwide.
The film was made available on digital and VOD platforms like Apple iTunes, Vudu and Amazon Prime Video on November 26th, 2023, a whopping 38 days after its theatrical debut (October 20th, 2023). Cut to more than a year later, we know when the film will be available for physical copies purchase. Dvdreleases reports that Butcher’s Crossing will have its physical media release on December 26th, 2023. Exactly a month after the film debuted online. The film is one of the most critically acclaimed pictures of Nicholas Cage in recent times. Make sure to check it out before the year ends.
Butcher’s Crossing is available for purchase online and VOD platforms.
