Rocky is one of the most successful and popular franchise in the history of Hollywood. In 1976, the Sylvester Stallone starrer Rocky paved way for a new kind of cinema and also inspired the creation of Robert De Niro’s classic “The Raging Bull” and many other films. After that the original Rocky franchise spanned over 30 years and ended with Rocky Balboa (2006). But obviously that wasn’t the end of the franchise as Michael B. Jordan’s Creed emerged as this generations hero in Ryan Coogler’s Creed (2015). Creed was highly acclaimed because it kept everything that worked about Rocky and pushed it to new heights. It is often considered to be the best film in the franchise and the trend continued with Creed II (2018), which was also loved by the audiences and critics alike. And now in 2022, comes out Michael B. Jordan’s Creed 3.
Creed 3 Poster Unveiled, Release Date and More
Creed III has been directed by Michael B. Jordan himself and is all set to release on 23rd November, 2022. As of now, we had heard or seen absolutely no promotional material of this upcoming film but a few hours ago, Collider reported that the first poster for the film had been unveiled. Their journalist “Steven Weintraub is attending Licensing Expo in Las Vegas and got an exclusive look at the threequel’s first promo poster.” Check out the poster below!
Thanks to Collider, we now have the first poster for the film and it features a sweaty shirtless Jordan ready to punch it out. Creed III is the ninth film in the Rocky franchise and the third film in the creed franchise. Unlike other films, it will be the first Creed film which doesn’t feature Stallone’s Rocky Balboa as the mentor of Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan). Although it is a dorect continuation of Creed II, it is the first film in Rocky franchise which will not feature Rocky.
As you may be aware, Adonis Creed is the son of Apollo Creed, one time fierce rival of Rocky turned friend. It would be interesting to see how Creed 3 turns out as it doesn’t feature the OP Stallone’s character. But this is how the franchise will move forward from now on, if it does, and this is something viewers will need to accept. End of an era, eh? But the beginning of a new one as well with Black Panther and Fruitvale Station famed Michael B. Jordan helming it.
