During D23 Expo 2022, Disney announced a number of animated films and series which makes sense as it is the company’s biggest fan event. It takes place bi-yearly, so naturally the excitement leading upto it is pretty high. Disney dedicated the first day of the event completely to its animated movies department. There were number of announcements and updates given to us for their upcoming ventures. However, the one thing that the company devoid us of was release dates for all of their films. First let’s take a look at every new movie that was announced at D23 Expo and then check out their now announced release dates.
Disney’s New Release Dates: Which Marvel Is In The List?
- Elio: The film is supposed to be come out in Spring 2024 and it stars America Ferrera as Olga Solis and Yonas Kibreab as Elio. The film’s plot revolves around a kid who has become Earth’s brand ambassador for what is basically United nations for aliens. He is trying to prove that the best part of being a human is to be yourself.
- Mufasa: The Lion King – Barry Jenkins, Moonlight director will helm the prequel to the beloved animated film The Lion King. The film’s story will revolve around orphan Mufasa and his struggle to reach royalty. Mufasa is one of the greatest kings of the Pridelands. The footage shows baby Mufasa being washed away by a flood. The film will use the same animation technology from the 2019 The Lion King remake.
- Snow White: The new Snow White live-action film will be directed by Marc Webb and will have an amazing cast including Rachel Zegler, who is playing Snow White, and Gal Godot, who is cast as the Evil Queen, both appeared at the D23 showcase. Gadot even showed her evil laugh that she’ll use as the queen. A brief teaser of the film was shown as well.
- Wish: Disney closed the show by announcing a new original film. It is meant to celebrate the 100 years of Disney’s storytelling. The film will have original characters and songs. The film’s story is about how the wishing star came to be. The film will be set in a fantasy world that outdates every Disney world as it will be the world of wishes.
- Inside Out 2: The sequel to the highly successful Inside Out is in very early stage of production right now. The sequel just like the original might take place in Riley’s head with all her emotions from the first film returning. Amy Poehler came out on stage to announce the sequel. While the film doesn’t have a release date yet.

The Untitled Marvel movie in the list is part of Phase 6 and the remaining 8 unannounced projects. Marvel didn’t reveal them at the same and we’d have to wait for a quiet while before they announce them. At least we now know that one of those 8 unannounced project will be a movie coming out in September 2024.
Disney’s D23 Expo took place between 9th September 2022 to 11th September.
