A Haunting In Venice is the third instalment in Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot films. After adapting Agatha Christie classics like Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, Branagh has now adapted Christie’s lesser known Hallowe’en Party (1969). The film has debuted with a 81% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, which now stands at 83% after 18 reviews. This happens to be a franchise record as the previous two installments stand at 61% and 62% respectively. The score might fall as more reviews are added, but this is a solid start. If this film turns out to be successful, then the future of the franchise looks bright, if not then this might be the last we see of Branagh’s charming Poirot. However, is the franchise already developing in a certain direction? Is that direction teased in this film? Perhaps in a post credit scene? Let’s find out.

Does A Haunting In Venice Tease The Upcoming Poirot Film?

The concept of post credit scenes was started by Marvel Studios in modern cinema. Giving the audience just one more nugget of the film that teases about the upcoming developments in the franchise. After Marvel, DC also followed the trend and soon post credit scenes became a norm in the superhero genre. However, recently many mainstream Hollywood franchises have also adopted this tradition with Fast X having a post-credits scene where we saw Luke Hobbs’ return. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts added a mid-credits too in order to revive Mirage.

There are still some franchises which opt against the trope. For instance, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse didn’t have a post-credits, for example. Similar to Across the Spider-Verse, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One and Meg 2: The Trench and The Equalizer 3, A Haunting In Venice just like its previous two installments doesn’t have a post credit scene. So, whatever Hercule Poirot’s next adventure is, we’ll only know about it through an official announcement.

Kenneth Branagh has assembled another all-star cast for A Haunting in Venice, including Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly, Call My Agent’s Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey and Mayor of Kingstown’s Emma Laird, among others. The movie is the third Christie novel that Branagh has directed, following Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. Both movies had solid, if unspectacular reviews, but only Murder on the Orient Express (budget: $55 million) was a box-office hit with $353 million and Death on the Nile (budget: $90 million) struggled, grossing only $137 million.
