Dial of Destiny is the first Indiana Jones film which is not directed by Steven Spielberg. However, no need to worry as the film is in hands of a very capable director – James Mangold. The one who directed The Wolverine, Logan, Ford vs Ferrari, Identity and Girl, Interrupted. All his films that I’ve seen are an absolute delight. Mangold is one of the ideal directors working today to helm a film like this. The weird case of Mangold is that a lot of people don’t know him but whenever I talk about his films, they’re well known. The film of course stars Harrison Ford of course but along with him the supporting cast includes, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shia LaBeouf and Antonio Banderas. The film has not been a recipient of great reviews and the film’s opening numbers look underwhelming as well.
The fact that Indiana Jones 5 is the costliest film ever to be produced by Lucasfilm bearing a pricetag of $294.7 million doesn’t help as well. Is there anything else that hypes up the film for the audience? Maybe a post credit scene? Let’s find out.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Doesn’t Have A Post Credit Scene!
The concept of post credit scenes was started by Marvel Studios in modern cinema. Giving the audience just one more nugget of the film which may tease about the upcoming developments in the franchise. After Marvel, DC also followed the trend and soon post credit scenes became a norm in the superhero genre. However, recently many mainstream Hollywood franchises have adopted this tradition with Fast X having a post-credits scene where Luke Hobbs returned, while Transformers: Rise of the Beasts added a mid-credits to revive Mirage
Although, there are still some franchises which opt against the trope. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse didn’t have a post-credits, for example. Similar to Across the Spider-Verse, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny doesn’t have a post or mid credit scenes. So, once the credits roll you can rush towards the exit doors, bathroom stalls or wherever you need to be. As Crystal Skull didn’t do a proper send-off to Indy but Dial of Destiny presents that chance once again.
Due to this being the last Indy film, the audience was wondering if the film will have a post-credits scene teasing the future of Indy’s goddaughter, Helena, and if she takes the mantle up, or if there’ll just be a running gag or sentimental scene acting as a swan song for Indy’s retirement.
Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny is scheduled to release on 30th June 2023.
