Dune Part Two Runtime Revealed!

Dune 2 is one of the biggest movies releasing in 2024. The film was initially intended to release in October 2023 but thanks to the Hollywood strikes, Warner Bros. made the call to delay the film despite having an uninterrupted IMAX run in its initial theatrical debut for over a month. There is a real chance that the sequel might turn out to be one of the highest grossing movies of the year, given that the first film earned more than $400 million worldwide despite releasing in an active pandemic. From what we’ve heard Part Two is so much crazier than the first one, if that is true then I can’t wait for it. The sequel is supposed to bigger than the first one in every way. Today’s report certainly proves it as the runtime of the sequel is very long…

Dune 2 Duration Is Longer Than The First Film!

According to The Film Classification and Rating Organization (EIRIN), Dune 2 duration clocks in at a massive 2 hours and 46 minutes. EIRIN is Japan’s film regulator and had previously predicted the runtime of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time’s runtime of 2 hours and 34 minutes before its release. The final runtime of the film turned out to be 2 hours and 35 minutes. So, I think it is fair to say we can trust this report about the sequel’s runtime.

Dune 2’s reported length breaks the record for the longest film directed by Denis Villeneuve, which was previously held by Blade Runner 2049. Here’s a full look at all of Villeneuve’s ranked by runtime, can note how both Dune films will combine for 5 hours and 21 minutes:

  • Dune 2: 2 hours and 46 minutes (reported)
  • Blade Runner 2049: 2 hours and 43 minutes
  • Dune: 2 hours and 35 minutes
  • Prisoners: 2 hours and 33 minutes
  • Incendies: 2 hours and 10 minutes
  • Sicario: 2 hours and 1 minute
  • Arrival: 1 hour and 46 minutes
  • Enemy: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • August 32nd on Earth: 1 hour and 28 minutes
  • Maelström: 1 hour and 28 minutes
  • Polytechnique: 1 hour and 17 minutes

Dune 2 adds even more faces into the fold, including Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Christopher Walken as Shaddam IV and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot. Dune: Part One is available for streaming on HBO Max or Amazon Prime Video depending on the region where you live.

Dune: Part Two will now exclusively premiere in theatres on March 1st 2024.
