Grab your still suits and some extra water, because the Dune: Part Three or Dune 3 teaser just hit the internet like a giant sandworm. Warner Bros. dropped the footage on March 17, 2026, confirming that the end of Denis Villeneuve’s epic trilogy is officially on the horizon. If you thought the last movie was intense, wait until you see Paul Atreides rocking his new “I’m the Emperor and I’m stressed” look.
The film officially lands in theaters on December 18, 2026. Yes, that is a holiday season release, so you can spend your winter break contemplating the crushing weight of prophecy instead of your relatives.
What Happens When The Hero Wins?
This chapter adapts Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, picking up about 12 years after the events of the previous film. Paul is now the Emperor of the Known Universe, but his “holy war” has basically set the galaxy on fire. The teaser gives us a look at a much more weathered Paul, played by Timothée Chalamet, complete with red scarring around his eyes and a vibe that says he really needs a nap.
We also see Paul and Chani, played by Zendaya, having a super quiet, slightly ominous talk about names for their future children. Mentioning a daughter named Ghanima definitely feels like a “if you know, you know” moment for book fans.
New Faces, New Threats
Well just like the first two, the cast is stacked again for the stated epic conclusion. Returning stars include:

And then comes the real addition. Robert Pattinson joins as Scytale, a mysterious shapeshifter villain. Aside from him, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke respectively portray Leto II Atreides and Ghanima Atreides, Paul and Chani’s twin children. The teaser barely explains him, which somehow makes him even more terrifying.
Why Everyone Is Hyped
Denis Villeneuve is finishing what he started, and he is doing it with style. This movie was filmed on 65mm film and specifically for IMAX, so expect the visuals to be absolutely mind-blowing. While the first two movies were about the “hero’s journey,” this one is a psychological thriller about the consequences of having too much power.
We see Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan taking on a much bigger role, basically acting as the person who records Paul’s legacy while things crumble around him. Plus, Robert Pattinson as a Tleilaxu Face Dancer is the casting choice we didn’t know we needed.
Paul got everything he wanted. Now he has to deal with it. And if the teaser is anything to go by, this story is about to get darker, messier, and way more emotional. So yeah, December is booked. The drama is real, the worms are big, and the box office clash with Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026 is going to be the cinematic event of the decade.
