Elvis Presley, the singing American Legend is getting his well deserved biopic that will focus on his and life an infinite achievements. The film is directed by Baz Luhrmann, director of 20+ films, the most notable being The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge. The director was reportedly obsessed with Presley’s life for over 2 years before finally getting a chance to make the film. While the film’s official runtime is revealed to be 2 hours 39 minutes, the director had a 4 hour long version as well. For fun let’s call it the Luhrmann Cut. While we may or may not get a Director’s cut for the film but if you believe Luhrmann it is worth the long runtime. As the film is approaching its release, the early reviews don’t seem to help its cause.
Even if the films have garnered a lukewarm response, the one common thing across all reviews is the praise for the lead star of the film – Austin Butler. His performance as Elvis Presley is better than anyone had expected to be. Naturally, twitter has its reactions and the general wave seems positive.

Priscilla Presley says the internet should be ashamed after saying Austin Butler's "Elvis" performance is less than perfect, and she thinks it was a spot-on impersonation. https://t.co/J4fGOmY9ml

Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS equally dazzles & exhausts. Austin Butler rises above the glam & noise to provide a truly breathtaking performance while Hanks’ work will go down as some of the most perplexing of his career. Great makeup, sound & costumes. Dizzying editing. An opulent mess. pic.twitter.com/BU8NCX9RBs

Austin Butler delivers a performance for the ages in Elvis. A true tour-de-force in which the viewer never sees Butler, only Elvis. This is a bold statement but Butler’s transformation as Elvis Presley is arguably one of the best that I’ve ever seen on the big screen. #ElvisMovie pic.twitter.com/9Wgx9ZgTFi
