A24’s low budget sci-fi comedy, Everything Everywhere All At Once created a new record for the studio, becoming the highest grossing film for A24 at North American box office, grossing 50M(USD). The previous record is held by A24’s Uncut Gems starring Adam Sandlor, while Midsommer trails behind. Though the film is available on some platforms like iTunes and Prime Video, it continues to have a strong presence at the box office and enjoying decent footfalls even after eight weeks of it’s release. However, A24’s horror drama, Hereditary (2018) still remains as the studio’s highest grossing film world wide with an 80.2M(USD) final gross on a 10M(USD) budget.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is up for Awards Season
Hailed as one of the greatest films ever made and one of the best films of this year, Everything Everywhere All At Once might be running for an awards campaign targeting the Oscars season. The film is surely a contender for Original Screenplay, written by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert along with handling the direction duties. Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan were also considered to have high chances to win the Oscar nominations, as their performance received unanimous praise from critics and audience alike. Moreover, this film is Yeoh’s biggest success as lead in the Hollywood market in recent times.
Jackie Chan Was Initially Supposed to Play the Lead
The directing duo, Daniels’ confirmed they wrote the story of EEAAO with Jackie Chan in mind. The character of Evelyn’s(Michelle Yeoh) husband is supposed to play the main lead originally. However, due to the unavailability of the action star, the makers had changed the dynamics in the script and made Evelyn as the lead, which brought the 59-year old Michelle Yeoh, the greatest female Asian action star on board.
Michelle Yeoh confirmed in a recent interview to an entertainment outlet that Jackie Chan texted her about Everything Everywhere All At Once and how the Daniels’ duo came to him first offering the lead role.
“Jackie actually texted me,” she says. “And he says: ‘Wow, I hear amazing things about your movie. Did you know that the boys came to see me in China?’ And I said: ‘Yes, your loss, my bro!’”
Surely the film would have worked even with Jackie as the main lead and provided a much needed comeback to his career, as it did for Michelle Yeoh.
