Nicolas Cage is one of the biggest and most popular stars of Hollywood and has a cult following as well. His resume is filled with many incredible films, lots of average films, and some downright bad films. One of his great films though was Face/Off (1997)which was directed by John Woo. It followed the story of FBI Agent Archer (John Travolta) who undergoes plastic surgery and switch faces with violent criminal Troy (Cage). But trouble doubles when Troy starts impersonating Archer. It was a unique concept which led to its immense critical as well as box office success. That aside, the film gained a cult following which is precisely the reason why its getting a sequel.
Nicolas Cage Will Return
Good news is that it is now confirmed that Nicolas Cage will return to his role by Cage himself. In an AMA on Reddit, it was asked if Cage return for the sequel. To this he responded clearly and precisely in a single word “Yes.” Check out the screenshot below:
So, its pretty clear that Nicolas Cage has confirmed that he will return in Face/Off 2. Now whether he was approached by the studio to return to his role as Troy is a bit unclear. Although Troy eventually died at the end of the film do not forget its face-swapping surgery technology. So, it’s quite possible that Troy aka Nicolas Cage’s face is swapped with a new character’s body.
Will There Be A Face Off 2?
The answer is of course, that’s what’s the post is about. In February 2021, director Adam Wingard announced that he was working on a direct sequel to Face/Off. But it has been a year now since we’ve got any significant updates on the sequel. There’s nothing much known about it as of now except the fact that it’s being directed by Godzilla vs Kong’s director. An now we know that Nick Cage is all set to return. Also, earlier Wingard stated that John Trevolta is interested in returning for Face Off 2 as well. So, it seems like the film is real after all and we’ll see more updates about it pretty soon. So, if you asking who will be in the new face off movie, then its almost confirmed they’ll be Nicolas Cage and John Trevolta once again.
In a different direction, Nicolas Cage’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is all set to hit the theatres next week. The film has opened to extraordinarily good reviews and features Cage as Cage himself. So, if you are a die hard Nicolas Cage fan be sure to check this film out. Cage has also been confirmed to appear as Count Dracula in Renfield which all set to debut on April 14, 2023.
