I think we’re all familiar with the Harry Potter books and movies. I’m not saying we all have read or seen them but it is not possible that you’ve never heard of them. They’re for sure one of the most famous novels of all time. The films based on the novels as well perfectly captured the tone and emotions of novels. The movies were extremely successful however, sadly there are no more books to adapt as they main Harry Potter saga has ended. The fan following for the books and movies is unreal. So, after the main story ended, another franchise spawned as a prequel was announced titled Fantastic Beasts.
These movies are not based or adapted from novels, they’re independent stories that unfold in the Harry Potter universes. The Fantastic Beasts movies focus on new adventures of Newt Scamander. The centre premise of the films are, “Newt Scamander, an introverted wizard and magizoologist (a collector of magical creatures), who is called upon by his former professor Albus Dumbledore to defeat Gellert Grindelwald, a dark wizard who has plans to rule over the muggle world.” There are 3 Fantastic Beasts that are already out however, there have been no updates on Fantastic Beasts 4 to the point where the film’s existence is in question altogether.
Is Fantastic Beasts 4 Happening?
Originally when the first Fantastic Beasts was released the plan for the franchise was clear as it was supposed to be a pentalogy. Out of which 3 movies are out, so will there be a fourth one like it was originally planned? Has the recent box office disappointment of Fantastic Beasts: the Secrets of Dumbledore extinguished the possibility of a follow-up movie. New Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav seems interesting in creating more content in the Harry Potter universe.
However, Zaslav might be staying away from the projects because of the allegations and controversies surrounding Warner Bros. especially because of Ezra Miller so whether he’ll play Credence is something to be seen. At the time writing, there have been no official update on the fourth film. As far as who would return for the fourth film then it would be fairly easy to assume, Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Mads Mikkelsen as Gellert Grindelwald, Katherine Waterstone as Tina Goldstein, and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski.
As Fantastic Beasts is not based on any books it is difficult predict what exactly happens next but as we’re aware of the lore already, we know that Grindelwald and Dumbledore will have a climactic battle that sees one of them become the victor but there is no guarantee that this will happen in the next movie. Fans are still update about the casting change of Dumbledore from Johnny Depp to Mads Mikkelsen coupled the recent film’s failure points towards that there is no Fantastic Beasts 4 in the making. If it is then the information for the same hasn’t been late.
