According to new set photos that have leaked from the Fast and Furious 10 set, Helen Mirren will reprise her role in the street racing action franchise. In 2017, Mirren made her first appearance in The Fate of the Furious as criminal mastermind Queenie, the mother of Owen and Deckard Shaw. Although her character returned in Hobbs & Shaw, F9, and was expected to make a comeback in Fast X, her involvement in the film hadn’t been officially announced until now.
Helen Mirren Will Return As Queenie In Fast and Furious 10
As seen in set photographs procured by Digital Spy, the Queen actress will reprise her role as Magdalene ‘Queenie’ Shaw. Mirren can be seen filming scenes for the upcoming movie alongside Vin Diesel at the Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome. The leaked pictures show Mirren and Diesel’s Dom Toretto embracing, followed by Mirren stroking Diesel’s cheek.
Fans anticipate that Queenie will have a significant role in the upcoming Fast and Furious movie now that Mirren’s return as Queenie has been confirmed. Mirren only had a small part in last year’s blockbuster film when Dom asked her for assistance in finding his brother Jakob (John Cena). According to the latest Fast X set pictures, he appears to be turning to Queenie for help once more.
Production is currently underway for the next chapter in the main franchise. Louis Leterrier is directing Fast and Furious 10, while Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau wrote the screenplay. Officially titled Fast X, the 10th installment will serve as the first movie in a two-part finale to the series.
The original cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang will all be returning in the movie, along with Diesel and Mirren. Fast X has also welcomed a few newcomers to this new installment, namely Rita Moreno, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, and Alan Ritchson, cast in undisclosed roles.
Plot details for Fast X have so far been kept a secret. However, the story appears to centre around Charlize Theron’s comeback as the antagonist Cipher. Fast X is scheduled to hit theatres on May 19, 2023.
