George Miller announced that Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL would compose music for his next film Furiosa, a spin-off and prequel to the filmmaker’s critically acclaimed masterpiece, Mad Max: Fury Road and also has music composed by Holkenborg. Miller revealed the news at Cannes where he’s promoting his new film “3000 Years of Longing”, which premiered recently at the festival and had a six-minute standing Ovation. The film is another critical success for George Miller after Fury Road and is the second collaboration between the director and Tom Holkenborg.
Furiosa release Date & Cast Details
Furiosa is currently scheduled to release on May 24, 2024 after the release date postponed from June 23, 2023. Anya Taylor-Joy plays the lead as Imperator Furiosa, which is first introduced in Fury Road and portrayed by Charlize Theron. The film also stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke. The film reportedly focuses on the origins of Imperator Furiosa and already a second-unit filming completed a major sequence in Australia.
What about Fury Road sequel?
The long anticipated sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, titled as Mad Max: The Wasteland is not going to roll the cameras anytime soon according to George Miller. The director revealed recently at an interview in Cannes that he has a story for Fury Road sequel, but it’s still in initial stages and also quite unsure at the moment if Tom Hardy reprises his role as the titular Mad Max, which he grabbed from the actor Mel Gibson for Fury Road, the fourth entry in the franchise.
