Furiosa Mad Max Prequel Will Reveal New Secrets Says George Miller!

I think George Miller’s best idea after making the original Mad Max films was to reboot Mad Max into a new franchise. The Mad Max reboot like the original enjoyed a glorious box office run and great critical acclaim. While Tom Hardy got his deserved praise for playing Max, the show stealer according to many was Charlize Theron for her portrayal of Furiosa and the fans began demanding a spin off. To our delight, we got to know that a few months ago the spin-off was officially revealed to be under production. Soon after that we get our first look at the new film in the franchise courtesy of an Australian newspaper. However, after the initial leak of set photos, news from the Furiosa’s production were sparse. However, some weeks earlier we got some leaked photos that gave us the first look of Chris Hemsworth’s character.

Although, those photos were taken from a distance but then we got more leaked photos that look like a private photoshoot. We have a much better idea of what would Hemsworth look like in the film. However, that is not the only thing the films is going to offer. According to the helmer of all the Mad Max films- George Miller, the upcoming prequel will reveal new secrets of Mad Max’s world.

Which New Secrets Will Come Out in Furiosa?

Furiosa Mad Max Spin-off Begins Production, Announces Chris Hemsworth

George Miller in a recent interview with The AV Club mentioned how Mad Max: Fury Road naturally paved the way for a Furiosa prequel. Because of Fury Road’s nature and treatment, the film left a lot of things in the air, not only about Furiosa but also about Max and the story world itself. Miller had all the answers to the questions ready but couldn’t find an organic way to include it in Fury Road. Consequently he found a new story in those not mentioned answers.

“When we wrote Mad Max, the task was to tell a story that was always on the run and to see how much the audience could pick up in passing,” Miller explained. “That was one of the tricks of Mad Max: Fury Road, that there would be references to things of where she’s from, why they’re doing things, but it was always on the run. There were very few moments of quiet. We never explained how she lost her arm. We never explain what the actual Green Place Of Many Mothers was. We never explained the workings of the Citadel. So we had the screenplay virtually complete before we shot Fury Road, and we did it because it arose out of wanting to explain to everybody who Furiosa was—to Charlize when she took on the role, and to all the actors and the designers and everybody else working on the Citadel and so on. The feeling was, gee, this is a pretty good screenplay, and then I kept saying to myself, ‘if Fury Road works, I’d really like to tell this story.”

“So it came about, I’m not going to say accidentally, but it came out of a need to explain [Fury Road’s] world which, as I said, essentially happened over three days and two nights,” Miller continued. “It’s really trying to explain how that world came to be. We also wrote, not a screenplay, but almost in novel form, Nico Lathouris and I, what happened to Max in that year before, and that’s something that we’ll look at further down the track later. But in telling each other the story of Furiosa, everything in Fury Road had to be explained. In my mind, I have a back story of the Doof Warrior, who plays the guitar. How could a blind man who all he can do is play a guitar, how does he get to survive in a wasteland where everybody is in extremis? How did he come to be there? So we wrote little stories for every character when we made Fury Road.”

The Mad Max: Fury Road Prequel stars Anya Taylor Joy in the lead role of Furiosa and the supporting cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Nathan Jones and Yahya Abdul Mateen II. We hope to get more updates from the film’s production soon. Mad Max: Furiosa will hit theatres on May 24th 2024.
