The Mad Max reboot turned out to be a great move by George Miller as the film like the original enjoyed a glorious box office run and great critical acclaim. While Tom Hardy got his deserved praise for playing Max, the show stealer according to many was Charlize Theron for her portrayal of Furiosa and the fans began demanding a spin off. To our delight, we actually got it as a few weeks ago it was officially revealed to be under production. Now we get our first look at the new film in the franchise courtesy of an Australian newspaper.
The Mad Max film released in 1979 paved the way for a new action franchise set in the dystopian future. While the first film starring Mel Gibson was a rare film that was critically acclaimed as well as a box office juggernaut, the sequels to the same were not quite it. The second film in the franchise, Mad Max 2: The road warrior was praised by the critics it couldn’t mirror the box office success of the first. It’s budget was juiced up quite a bit as compared to the first. The third film, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome had a box office run similar to the second film. However, the critics seem to like it. So, nearly 30 years after the original’s released we got a reboot to the franchise- Mad Max: Fury Road, and it was once again helmed by George Miller, the director of the first three films.
Furiosa even grander than the original?
The shoot for the Mad Max spin off began earlier this month and all of us were desperately waiting for something to surface online regarding the film and thankfully we got it, an Australian paper was able snap quick glances of the grand sets of Furiosa. The paper’s name is South Coast Register and here are the images they captured.

The film packs in an impressive with the like of Anya Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth. Anya Taylor Joy recently expressed her excitement regarding the film in an interview, “The first thing that went through my head when I found out I was going to do it was,’ I am so excited to work so hard. I fell in love with Furiosa, the way that Charlize presented her. She did such an incredible job and it was so beautiful and I can’t even think about trying to step [into her shoes]. It has to be something different, because it just can’t be done.”
We hope to get more updated on the film soon. Mad Max: Furiosa will hit theatres on May 24th 2024.
